Police: Bengals WR Henry dead at 26 - NFL News - FOX Sports on MSN (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/121609-Bengals-Henry?GT1=39002)

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry has died, one day after falling out of the back of a pickup truck in what authorities described as a domestic dispute with his fiancee.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Henry died at 6:36 a.m. Thursday. Henry was 26.

"It is with great sadness to learn Chris has passed away,'' Henry's agent, Andy Simms said in a statement. "For those who knew Chris, he was nothing like his public perception. A loving and caring individual, he was thankful for what he had in life, and proud of what he had overcome.''

Henry was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after being found on a residential road. Police said the dispute began at a home about a half-mile away, and Henry jumped into the bed of the pickup truck as his fiancee was driving away from the residence.

Police said at some point when she was driving, Henry "came out of the back of the vehicle.'' They wouldn't identify the woman, and no charges were immediately filed.
Police spokeswoman Rosalyn Harrington said homicide detectives have been assigned to the case but had no further information. Police have not released the 911 tapes, and Harrington wouldn't say if the woman was present at the scene when police arrived.

Authorities have not announced the cause of death. Mecklenburg County medical examiner investigator Carol Cormier said they were expecting to receive the body later Thursday.

Henry is engaged to Loleini Tonga, and the couple has been raising three children. Tonga's MySpace page identifies herself as "Mrs. C. Henry'' and has a picture of her next to a person who appears to be Henry. She also has a post from Tuesday talking about buying wedding rings. A neighbor said Wednesday that the Tonga family owns the home where police say the incident began. Charlotte is home to his fiancee's parents.

Funny how they wont release the name of the fiancee but its already listed who he was engaged to. He must have ate pavement..

Fucked up way to go...

I don't think they CAN officially say the name until criminal charges are presented as long as they are a possibility, if any are to be presented. The fact that putting 2 and 2 together in this case is coincidence more than anything, but apparently they have to follow some procedure.

Chris Henry was the shit if anyone has been following the bengals 09 season he completely turned his shit around for the better until he broke his forearm capturing a game winning pass this season.

It's a godamned shame.

He had 3 kids, all the jokes and puns aside, falling out of the back of a moving truck and being left there to die is a terrible way to go :( rip

This is where I will question just how much attention you actually pay to these things... What HAS Chad Johnson done off the field? Nothing to get himself suspended, no arrests, nothing more than a few kids that he is obviously properly supporting.
I don't like his ON field antics, but there again, I can't deny that he is damned good seemingly when he wants to be.

The fight that caused Chris Henry’s death was over the wedding costs. Chris didn’t want to spend money on certain things for the wedding so she flipped on him

Ochocinco Vows to Wear Henry Jersey Despite NFL Objections (http://www.footballnewsnow.com/2009/ochocinco-vows-to-wear-henry-jersey-despite-nfl-objections/)

Chad Ochocino

Chad Ochocinco said that he will in fact honor his late teammate Chris Henry on Sunday by wearing his jersey on Sunday during the Bengals game against the San Diego Chargers.

Ochocinco made the announcement during his broadcast on UStream.

The often flamboyant wide receiver said that he knows the “NFL is gonna hate him” for this, but he’s going to do it anyway

“I’m wearing the 15,” Ochocinco said on his show. “I’m wearing the Henry and all… They’re gonna tell me I can’t even touch the field. They’re gonna take my whole check, but this one is worth it.”

Earlier in the day the Bengals told him that he could not wear the Chris Henry jersey during the game. It appears he will not be deterred.

“This Sunday… The rest of the year… All the way to Miami is for him,” he said.

I'll feel bad rooting against them this weekend, but the Bolts are going to win.

Just because Chad wants to honor henry's death doesn't mean you can't root for the Chargers! Whoo hoo! go Chargers! :)

Haha well if they were playing anyone else I would be rooting for them to win, but...

I know the Chargers will get it done. Not too worried.
