hello all. I recently purchased a cat back exhaust from a member on here and he told me that it will bolt up to a KA cat. Well, when i took it to my mechanic he showed me that it wouldnt bolt up to mine because my cat is flanged for three bolts and my new exhaust is flanged for 2. I'm not trippin about it at all...all i have to do is buy a test pipe (i was planning on doing that anyway) but i just wanted to know if anyone has pictures of their Cats or has a list of compatible cats that can work with our car.

so what's the problem? tell your mechanic cut the flange off and weld on a 2 bolt flange.
You don't need to buy a test pipe, you need to think about the earth. Stop poisoning it

agree'd.

like others say, you can cut the flange and weld on a 2 bolt flange for your new catback,
or kill the earth like many others and get a test pipe.

yeah your cat is aftermarket
get a test pipe or another cat
environment? im sorry. i cant help it but seriously.
put some emissions on farm equipment first and we'll talk.
most sr cars and ka cars wont pass emissions. sometimes even stock Ka ones.

I'm just talking about emissions because this doesn't sound like a serious race car that needs no back-pressure, it's gonna loose like 1whp with a cat, big deal. If we are talking about a serious car then it's understandable to get rid of the cat.

95 and earlier? ugh, damn California.

I would love to have that law here, even though I don't drive my car on the street in the first place. oh well.

lmao i knew someone was going to do this sooner or later...and honestly about everyones concerns for 'poisoning the earth'..technically the earth has been fucked ever since the invention of the automobile. the ONLY way to prevent the earth from dilapidating is to do the same emissions standards WORLDWIDE....sure you may have one or two thousand out in Cali rippin it up with no cats but what about the folks that dont have emission standards in their entire state? why do they get the free pass? anyway....

as for the catalyst, mine has 2 bolts to the front of the car, and three from the rear...ive been looking at aftermarket cats and noticed that they ALL have two bolts on both ends...its not matching up at all O_O

I subscribe to import tuner and in their "fact or fiction section" they did a test on a new catalytic converter and a gutted cat. The test shows that you actually lose horsepower with the gutted cat rather than the full cat. Just something i read.

Oh and my cat has a 2 bolt flange on both sides.

and yes, the stock 240sx cat is 2-bolt flange on inlet and outlet.

I think I remember reading that. The car was naturally aspirated, wasn't it? Has anyone ever done a dyno on a high(er) hp turbo engine with and without a cat?
