Hello; just wondering if anyone knows what circuit this controls. I have a new computer but, If I plug it in without figuring out what fried this one I will be spending lots of time buying used computers..lol..So just looking for some info or places to check for chafed wires or something. The car is a 96 240sx se with an auto..255,000 on the clock...No mods on it that would effect the electronic system..... Here are some pics of the carnage...

Only the board designer will be able to tell you that. If anyone here knows the answer they are extremely stupid or extremely smart.

Good call here. Figure out what's going on first before frying something else.

Pull up the FSM and check every single engine ground and ECU ground. Then check every single wire in the engine and lower harness. Then check the body harness.
Most likely it's a bad ground or a wire is giving the ECU more current than the limit.

thats basically half your board toast. that is beyond repair. only if your a master with the solder iron would it be possible. how did that happen
I got a ka 5 speed ecu sitting around

How will the 5 speed ECU help?
No mods on it that would effect the electronic system
Famous last words. The owner of every car that I have fixed electrical problems on has told me this. Never assume anything with electronics and wiring.

Any fuse(s) pop?
That may help narrow the bad part(s).
Also, see if you can trace it to the pins on the connector,
then find out where or what are the pins for.

well the only thing that has been added is an automatic starting system..A.K.A.. Astrostart.. You all prob know, its just a remote starting system so when it's cold you can start the car by remote, instead of walking out in the cold..

There was a 7.5 amp fuse that was poped under the hood in the fuse box behind the battery.. It says its for the EGI..

The autostart should only tap into the ignition switch wiring. Nothing else. I've seen so many botched remote start installation that it's not funny.

Bingo! Your 7.5A ECU fuse blew. Check ECU grounds.
I'm no expert, but it looks like those were injector drivers that got cooked.
I know those drivers can get fried if you run low impedance injectors when the ECU expects high impedance ones...
Banknote, I have a auto ecu you can have cheap (30). PM me if you want it
BTW I am on mafia/tr etc ive talked to you before about your cobra (friends with parris aka token and a few other on mafia)
Check all grounds/relays/fuses and check wiring for exposed wires.
I would mainly check the harness that runs from driver side out to headlights and engine fuse box I would also check engine harness. Reason being the body harness etc is behind dash mounted so I couldnt see why those wires would be messed with.

Cool I think I may remember you. Thanks for all the info and ya I might be interested in the Ecu for a spare. I have one already but for 30 bux it would not hurt to have an extra..

Alright just an update.. Ive checked all the grounds I could find, also took wire wheel and cleaned them.. The computer is still getting hot in that same area within a few seconds of turning the key to the on position. However it has not poped the 7.5 amp EGI like it did the first time that the computer fried. I also checked the grounds on the main plug that plugs into the ECU.. I got a diagram that showed what pins were grounds and they all checked out. So it seems this thing is getting the better of me. I have most of the car ripped apart trying to inspect the harness as best as I can..so tomarow is another day hopefully I will get it...

This can happen if you wire up your MAF incorrectly or if you run power down a ground wire for a major engine sensor. Grounds going back to the ECU through sensor terminals can have this happen if you're not happen where you wire direct power for sensors. Not sure if that was the cause of this one though. this looks pretty major burnage

Jordan go on TR Nissan Tech I know a few people on there have parts cars. Make sure you get one for 97-98 they are different. I sold the one off my parts car so I can help you.
