Got my clip a week ago. my wallet is completely flat now! the guy i got it from was jason. for the short time i talked to him he seems cool.
-there is a good and a bad to this review-
I'll start with the bad!! when i went to the shop the clip has a few goodies on it. it has coilovers, pillow mounts, gauge cluster,brakes,calipers,a/c panel and other small items. when it was delivered it had none of these.
not sure if this happens alot, but he never said anything about stripping it. I see others here getting there clips with goodies all intack and i just figured i would get them too.i thought i was getting everything. so the clip comes and i ask him about it. His response was "it is company policy to stripe it clean of things they can sell on the side." He goes on to say jobs are hard to find and he has to do what ever the manager says.
so the price of $2300+TAX in my opinion is not that good of a deal. cause now i have to go find a cluster...
the other thing is he said he raised the clip to see if the oil pan had a dent. he said it was clean. I put it up on jack stands a few days ago and what do you know a dent right in the middle!

can't really say if the motor it self is in good condition or not yet.. but i'll add to this later on.

the good; all the wiring is there and uncut. the engine is clean except it has all this blue stain or residue on it. not sure what it is. i just hope it is not coolant.everything else looks good. the wire

would i deal with them again. probably not. but if i REALLY have to i would make sure of evrything before i hand over the cash.

the front bumper is held together with metal strips twisted together.

Hey J,

Since that dent is right in the middle, you didn't say if it was deep or not, regardless, take off the pan and check if the oil pick-up is ok.

BTW, I may have a spare clean oil pan .. I know it's somewhere.
haha

that sucks that they took out the extra goodies included with the clip....

also i think it woulda been better to have gotten a stock looking clip rather then one with goodies...probly got driven to hell... but good luck with the engine, i hope it goes well

The story was good until you said they stripped the goodies. My heart dropped out of my chest cavity when thinking how I would have felt, I mean $2300 +Tax is a about right for a clip IN ITS ENTIRETY!.

Are they even going to replace the oil pan? If not then...
I am glad you wrote this mini-review for those who are still shopping around and gathering info.

Ohhh man...I'd be pretty mad. Paying that money for a clip and not getting extras. That really sucks. It's like, you could pay $1500 for just the engine/harness/ecu and no goodies...Or you could pay $2300 for engine/harness/ecu/unsuable front end with out goodies. You got the fist man. :(

"got the fist" hahaaa tell me about it. there was a tread about cartune motors some where. might have been on freshalloy... but at the end of that thread there is a list of shops that cartune gets there clips from! i saw this a few days ago... the price range was like $1600 for a clip..

i will check the pan as soon as i get the motor out of the clip. all the parts are disconnected. just need to get hoist hooked up to the motor.
where did you guys hook up the hoist to? can i use the bolts that hold up the black box at the end of the head(on the driver side)

thanks guys

I've dealt with JDMRecycler before, so have friends. They are generally good guys, but dont expect them to be very helpful when your motor goes bad. (They'll pull that "as-is" ****e on you)

Also, NEVER EVER TAKE A MOTOR FROM THEM W/O COMPRESSION or LEAKDOWN TESTS. They lie up the *** when they say they run them (they don't). I know this from personal experience with someone who bought a bunk motor from them. This rule applies to ALL shops in general IMHO. If you do take one from them w/o running the tests, its your own fault, and dont expect to be able to take them to court (you will lose big time).

JDMRecycler never states they will give you extras with the half cuts they sell. They don't. They strip everything and sell it seperately.

I'm 3-for-4 with JDMRecycler, so I can't say they are totally bad. The best thing you can do for yourself is to ensure you don't get a bunk motor BEFORE you leave the shop.

And dont expect to get anything extra with your halfcut. I have never come across a shop that does not strip the cuts clean of aftermarket accessories.

Late :)

Dude that sucks, I would have gone down there and demanded something!

I found and bought my clip from a shop that does mostly honda's. My clip came with a bunch of stuff, apexi filter, greddy turbo timer, pivot headlight controller, and they wanted me to take the doors too.

And for removing the engine I used hooks and placed them in the engine mount brackets to lift my engine up, that's not the best way but I didn't have the engine slingers to use. I didn't feel like paying 38 bucks for them at the dealer. And like always be careful of the oilpan!
