ok so i have a 92 240sx with a fully built sr20 in it. Well i have had the car for awhile and i got it from a buddy, he was driving it and did a 1st gear pull half throttle and about 6-7k rpm it back fired and poped, he threw it in first 3rd and it was running like shit like it was on 3cyl. Well long story short he was going to pull the motor and got the harness and turbo stuff of. I got it put it back on, starter wouldn't turn figured that out. Then today got it started and was pulling of the plugs on the coil packs and 1 didn't change the sound or tone of the motor. It was the second one close's to the front of the car. They are split fire coil packs does anyone know where i can get just one.Or stock coil packs. And does this sound like it could be my problem.Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
jordan

Splitfire coils are POS.

I have been yelling this for a while. They have a life of about 3 years on heavily used cars.

Good luck on getting them individual.

But, could be a fuel issue, so make sure the injector is opening first (google), then compression test the cylinder, and stick another spark plug in the coil with it out of the engine to do a visual spark check, then change the spark plug, before replacing the coil.

^^thanks man, And i pulled the plug out it was dritched in fuel. So i would assume its a spark issue.

check your igniter chip. mine did the same thing, all of a sudden was running on 3 random cylinders. then sometimes runs normally. metered out ignition chip, was bad. instructions are in FSM. about $80 on ebay for a new one. u can buy a used one around $25 but keep in mine they are ~20 years old from a 95 Q45
