last night i was driving my 95 240 on the highway. it seemed to be running fine. after about 40 minutes of driving it started to act up. starting to jerk a little bit. then it started getting worse, it wouldnt rev over 2k rpms. it was like a rev limiter almost. than the car just shut off. and it wont restart now. the gas guage was getting close to E, so i walked to the nearest gas station, put gas in it. still no luck. i can smell gas from the front of the car, but it wont start. the starter seems fine and cranks over real good, but it just wont catch,
any help as to what is wrong?
thanks a lot

check injectors for leaks...and more importantly check to see if the fuel filter is clogged or if the hoses/clamps are leaking. these would be the first things to check.
then take out the plugs and see if it's flooded (probably is now). let it air out and try starting it again.

The fuel filter is on the passenger side down a little ways.

I would say to turn the key to the on position (to get the fuel pump running) then start to press on fuel lines to see if one leaks.

yeah, i was told about an hour ago the car is on its way back to my house. i got to check a few things out, didnt get to do much last night being dark and raining
is this most likely a fuel problem or possibly something more serious?
i hope its nothing too bad, but it kinda gives me an excuse to take the car off the road and start saving money for an rb

Well, now that your ECU threw a code at you, you should have a much easier time troubleshooting. Check out what the code is and let us know.

I had the same thing happen to me about a year ago...i was driving from Orlando, and it was raining...the truck next to me hit a puddle, which splashed a huge amount of water on the front of my car...about a half hour after that (still driving from Orlando), it started jerking, then wouldnt go past 2500 rpms....i got off the highway, had it towed, then next day took it to Nissan because check light was on...they couldnt find a problem, but suggested water got in somewhere it wasnt supposed to be.....no damage to the car, runs perfect ever since...

i was hoping something just got wet, because it runs fine now. what may have gotten wet?

Could have been the mass air flow sensor...I wasnt really sure, and neither was Nissan....after it sat for a day, it was back to normal..just had to get check engine light reset...

I think I may have a problem with my mass airflow sensor. It's similar to the above situation more more sporatic. How difficult is it to replace? About hwo much do they cost? If I buy the S13 part (instead of a 300ZX upgrade) do you still need to reprogram the ECU?
Thanks,
Matt

you wouldnt need to reprogram the ecu when replacing with a stock part
