hahaha awesome, the Search button is red now :D

anyway, I looked around a bit about blow-through MAFS, and since I have a Blitz BOV (heard not-good things about it) and and going to have to get custom IC piping anyway (running a Volvo-sourced FMIC), I figured it wouldn't be too much more trouble to run a blow-thru MAFS. It would make one less thing to do with the wiring harness, and would probably run better and have a little bit better response. Only thing is that I've heard you have to make sure the airflow has a pretty straight path into the MAFS for it to work well. Also, this probably wouldn't solve stumbly idle/leaking problems associated with the Blitz BOV, would it? I'd also lose the ability to shoot flames on WOT upshifts :D (yes, it's kinda ricey to still want that, but it's so freaking cool to pass someone in my dad's 944turbo and shoot a small flame at 'em when I upshift :D).

Anyway, school me, flame me, teach me, just help me decide what to do :)

Thanks.

you do *not* need a blow-thru MAF setup. and you Blitz valve will work just fine. just accept the fact that you don't need a noisy BOV to be "cool" and "fast" and "trendy". i had to go through those emotions too...;) i had the noisy valve for a while...and all the idle problems to go with it. now the idle is consistent (but still lumpy...different issue) and the air gets rerouted like it's supposed to. an added benefit is that when the throttle is partially open, the valve bleeds off a little air, making the turbo spooling up VERY NOTICEABLE. it's cool. trust me.

p.s. all you need for flames is an open exhaust. it's the cat that kills the fireball party. :D

actually the BOV with an open-element filter should be loud enough to entertain me :D funny thing is that my friend with a 944 turbo is thinking about venting his BPV to atmosphere like my dad's car because he loves hearing it :D (dad's 944 turbo's BPV recirc part on the aftermarket intake doesn't quite line up correctly, BPV is vented to atmosphere until we find a weird-shaped hose or mess with the intake pipe).

you mentioned loosening the spring back out when you recirc the BOV, wil that be OK? even with recirc? since i'm having to get all my IC piping done custom anyway i'll be sure to have a flange put on there to recirc it... although i think i'm gonna be running high-temp PVC for a few weeks until i get more funds... seeing as i've been convinced to get an aftermarket FPR...
