I want to use some type of oil resistant hose since oil will obviously get in there at some point but i cannot seem to find any oil resistant hose that is 5/8. What do you all use for this? Its obvious that everyone replaces it. I may be able to get Auto Tranny cooler line thats 5/8" would that be good or is that different? I know the corrosive effects are different between ATF and oil.
Heres what im talking about if you didnt know.

You need something that is fuel and oil resistant vacuum hose. Even if it's oil resistant, the unburturnt fuel and acids will eat it.
Friends hose got eaten from the inside out. Looked ok on the outside but felt like putty. The inside was like powder chunks. Lucky it split when it did.

I use oil pressure hose, the one with braided fabric integrated into the outer liner (some are blue). It's kind of expensive, but it never, EVER, fails.

Hey DJ, that isn't your car hahaha! Yours is WAYYY sicker than that....
OP, Have you ever looked in those hoses. From the Black Box (air oil separator), in that tube there is a restrictor in there... You can't just use any hose... The front part, us whatever you want... I just use heater hose and it works fine.... But I run a stock exhaust manifold, so its way far away from that hose. If you have an aftermarket, then you wanna use oil hoses... (I think they are blue).

I do not/did not have any restrictor device in either of those hoses.
Does it matter if its redtop/blacktop? Ive seen heater hose gum up and turn all gooey and gross so i dont want to take that risk.
Sure that is a baller breather set up Ive seen it before, Luke does that mod. I'm wondering though what hose is used for the one from the VC to the block? So it is ok to bypass that stock black box if i am running a catch can?

I don't think its redtop or blacktop. Unless the hose was changed from stock originally, it for sure had a restrictor in it. Anyways from breather to crank case I used heater hose.... I think that is the same here... I run track a lot and don't have that problem of gumming up... I dunno...

I just replaced mine on my red top this past weekend... I use goodyear heater hose.... just go to your local autozone or what ever and get a foot of that you should be fine..... anyway that hose is easy to change out and not expensive

I'm not going to take a chance with it i believe heater hose would work im sure but im insane about my builds. What is with this oil restrictor everyone is mentioning? I do NOT have one. Do i need it? What exactly is it good for?
I have also heard that its ok to bypass the stock catch can too is that right?

no you dont need the restrictor, but its def. nice to have.
its fine to bypass the stock catch can
IMHO just use heater hose and change it and check it regularly (oil change or w/e your routine is) since its so easy to get to.

Buy MIL-DTL-6000 Fuel & Oil Hose 5/8" Diameter (Price per Foot) (http://www.skygeek.com/mil-h-6000-5-8.html)
found that by google searching " 5/8" oil resistant line "
Im going to keep using heater hose untill i get the AN fittings welded onto my valve cover.

Yeah ive seen some stuff like that also. I thought about doin AN fittings as well but id rather keep the original fittings if i can find hose that will work. I'm probably just going to go with that Forge motorsport stuff, it has some good specs on it and definitely should not break down ever.
As far as the restrictor goes, do you know where i could buy a new one? I may just live without it. I also wanted to bypass the stock catch can but is there any bad effects to this?
I will be running a can from the front side of the T to a catch can then to the intake pipe.
Appreciate all the feedback.

OMG... The black box is NOT a catch can.... its an air oil separator. Its different from the restrictor that I am talking about. Do a search and you will find what restrictor I am talking about....
Secondly by passing the oil air separator can have negative effectives. Look up a long oil catch can thread. Its been covered to death.

Why would anyone want to bypass the oil/air separator?
It separates the oil from the air coming out of the crank before it is sucked back in to your turbo inlet.
I don't think anyone would want oil coating their turbo and intercooler.
