Been a looker on Zilvia for a while, decided to register cause i need some help.
So i been wanting to install a VLSD on my S14, I finally got one but it's an ABS model diff and my car non ABS. I checked out several forums and got a lot of mixed messages from different sites. Well I got the diff to fit with a few adjustments.
I took off the dust cover off the trans and pushed the drive shaft forward. Now the shaft is a hair away from the rear of the trans. After installing I started the car no issue so far. Drove it home (did the work at my buddies house) and heard something rubbing but then it would stop. Got to the first stop light and when the car is nearing a complete stop the car started shaking and clunking. Then back to normal. It did this for about 2miles, then the car was totally fine. I got home and jacked up driver side to check if the shaft, diff and trans was fine. I found oil or grease in between the shaft and trans. So here my question:
Did i bust the oil seal on the trans by doing this? (probably a yes)
If i replaced the seal to stop the oil leak and left the shaft the way it is would it cause any issues?
How far can you actually move the shaft forward before it breaks something in the trans?
Any one in Socal 30 min away from West Covina got a s14 ABS drive shaft?
