Hi to all members just did my s14 kouki convertion and im planing to add the H1 HID kit. My question is what type of power do you people have like 6000k and 8000k im not sure what type to buy if you have some information pictures will help its stock projector. Also might help people with kouki projectors to make a better desision on how bright they what their hid kit. since theres a zenki thread on this similar question but not kouki.

Hi to all members just did my s14 kouki convertion and im planing to add the H1 HID kit. My question is what type of power ballast do you people have like 6000k and 8000k im not sure what type to buy if you have some information pictures will help its stock projector.

The K ratings are just bulb color really.

Any "reputable" hid seller will have decent ballasts.

You're thinking too hard.

I recommend going with 4300k or around that (5000K MAX) if you are looking for maximum brightness and classy looks.. I think anything else higher looks like pure rice and anything lower should only be used for fog lights (or highs if you live in really foggy/rainy/bad condition weather)

Kits are crap to begin with. When you go above 4300k the light output goes downhill with the tinting they put on it to make it blue.

4300k has enough blue tint in it anyways.

anything over 5K will suck balls in the rain.

stay with 4300. its the closest to natural daylight. If you have the money, go with a retrofit. The output of a retrofit with tsx or s2k projectors will blow any kit out of the water

i have 6000k bulbs and i have no problems with them. look good to just enough blue tint looks almost like a teal.

OP you're getting the color temperature confused with brightness.

The color doesn't blind people, fucked up light patterns and glare do.

You're installing HIDs in a halogen projector. It's gonna be better than a halogen housing, but it's still not designed for that light output.

Once again, you're thinking TOO hard.

umm no shit

So your light output is not optimum. Good job, you bought a product that made your car inferior.

I used to have 6000k then one bulb died and I replaced them with 4300k.

There's probably a lot of things to factor in as well like age of the bulbs and quality of the kit but the 4300k lit up WAY more of the road.

I think if you just get one of the cheap HID kits from carparthookup here it will look just fine.

I have 4300k in my Kouki S14. The stock projectors are not the greatest, but my cut off is pretty freaking good. If I am driving next to a wall/guard rail the cut off is perfectly straight, and in front of me it is in the shape of a bow tie, so not perfectly straight, but not terrible.

I have asked a lot of people if my headlights look way to bright after I've ridden behind them and everyone says they look like any other OEM HID car out there - this is from people who are not into cars or anything. I have them angled a little more down then they were when I was running regular lights, but the coverage is awesome. I wish my Accord had projectors so I could have some better freaking headlights w/o blinding people.

Feel better for what? You made a statement that you had degraded your own car by buying a shitty product, what does me pointing that out have to do with feeling?

And does making a point require a penis to be in the mouth? If that's the case, your own post would also dictate that you 'suck cock', as you made a statement too. Explain please.

I'm all for a good verbal war, but you have to at least make sense when you try to belittle someone.

Me? You're the one asking for photos that could easily be found by searching the forum.

The stock projector sucks and would recommend retrofitting.

Here is when I installed mine...

HID on the left, halogen on the right:
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c51/95KA-Turbo/HIDs3.jpg

When you pull up close to something it looks distorted, but if I could have pulled back another 15 feet you would see a cleaner cut off:
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c51/95KA-Turbo/HIDs4.jpg

You can see the cut off the best on the first picture. I can't take any current pictures because my car is ripped apart right now. My headlights were all fucked up out of alignment in those pictures as well, haha.
