Who runs modified knuckles for more angle?

I have an extra set of knuckles i'm going to be messing with to get more angle, only question is how is the driving when your going straight..because your wheels will now be pigeon toed wont they?

I will be cutting about an inch, maybe a little more off the knuckle, i don't want crazy angle, but more.

Also one more question, what are the ups to using s14 lca's on an s13?

Your cutting the part on the knuckle where the tie rod bolts to and making it shorter, I just figured in doing so your wheels would sit weird.. depending on how much you take off.

You would need another alignment when you do this. Also look around at others who have used modified knuckles and see what inner/outter tie rods they used. Some combinations are longer than others for more angle. Using s14 lca's on a 13 will give you more camber up front. You will need an alignment if you use those as it will throw your toe and camber out pretty bad.

You also need to take them to a shop that knows what they are doing when it comes to welding cast iron. This is not something I would recommend to anyone that has never welded cast iron. There is a very specific way to do it.

You probably should not be doing this... no offense.

If you thought your car would be pigeon toed after.... clearly you would get an alignment and all would be well.

My dads a welder, and has welded cast iron plenty of times. and he has a brand new alignment machine, free alignments are the shit.

I ment by pigeon toed as the opposite of pigeon toed. I thought someone would have guess i ment that but to no avail.

My plans for this is to cut an est. inch off, use s14 inner and outer tie rods, and pbm tie rod spacers. The s14 has more threads so it'll be safer with them. If you use S14 lca's they're about 8mm longer, so it'll add mess stuff up too. I won't be using s14lca's unless i can find some cheap. if not i'm not too worried about it.

you adjust the aligntment back straight, the reason they turn farther is because you're shortening the lever arm on the knuckle.

box in your control arms!!!!!!!!!! they will tear in half if not. and cut off the stoppers and weld new ones on. when you shorten the arm you need to adjust the 2nd axis to keep the tie rod end out of your lower control arm

I run and make knuckles for s and z cars. I have a Z32 that I'm running cut knuckles on, stock tie rods and I have tie rod spacers.. I also did a set for a friend with an s13 and hes using stock tie rods too,no spacers. so far they've held up. Yea I've cut an inch off, seems to be the best.

as for the toe, you just align it back straight.

LMAO! wow.

You don't need modified knuckles man. Just get some 2 inch tie rod spacers. You'll have MAD angle...

The only reason to do this is for max angle. If you are just lookng to slightly increase what you have then just get s14 tein tierods and inner spacers. You'll be fine with that. I also mod knuckles for people, but the guys that I do them for are drifting at an upper level and actually need them. You have to worry about ackerman angle and tierod end placement. This is not something someone should atempt with out trying them on a full out drift car and do some R&D. We tested mine for about a year before I started making them for other people.

You also need to have a little more power than normal too, otherwise your going to have trouble keeping the car moving as lots of angle scrubs speed

I am also interested in doing this. Does anybody have measurements on how much to cut off?

wait, are s14 knuckles cast iron then?

how can you tell the difference between cast iron and cast steel? I intend to modify my knuckes... I'll probably have my dad weld them because he has a lot of experience, but is there anything I should know before trying?

Leave them alone!

By the sounds of it you're a street physicist and should not be attempting your own knuckle modification.

If you don't understand what ackerman angle is...

Don't know what TOE is...

Don't know that shortening your knuckles has nothing to do with toe...

You SHOULDN'T be doing knuckle mods.

Your dad may be able to weld, but it sounds like you guys don't have the patience, knowledge, or experience to do it right.

Very true and no one is trying to be mean here, were just trying to save lives!

If you want modified knuckles just send them and your control arms off to PBM
