Just try drifting a Stock AE86 on pavement sometime. They just don't have enough power and they don't have a locking diff. the left inner wheel comes up and to counter the wheel spin the driver has to left foot brake to stop the wheel from free spinning and help put more power on the road. Robbing the other wheel of much needed engine power. With 175+ HP its easy with 90 heh I donna think so.
she/he's right!
vrt is cool. ignore. why post this crap? just let people believe what they want. when internet drifters turn real drifters, they'll change their ways. until then..big talk no action.
it is quite entertaining though :)
your part right. drifting IS about power
and no a stock AE86 is NOT easy to drift. the cars handle like Sh*t!!! that's why theya re great cars. they will show you what you do wrong
dont dare quote or post this. haha..im no expert buy friends who have hachis told me this and ive herad it from some VERY VERY reputable people. they aernt great for handling but you can control them (driver skill) its unbelieveable what they can do
you DO NEED POWER.

nothing compares w/ FR and MR (in what most people think of drifting--ex: d1 style stuff)but FF does pretty damn good!! its about the driver!

MR cars really aren't the incredible drift cars they're made out to be. That's not to say you can't drift in them but it's much much more difficult to do than with an FR setup. MR cars tend to have a rear weigth bias which can make things very difficult.. once the rear end starts to swing around all the weight in back going with it can set you spinning before you've got any time to react. They're prone to snap oversteer spontaneously. With a good driver anything is possible but it really isn't very much like drifting in an FR car and must be treated very differently or you're going to find yourself wrapped around something.

Heh.. I didn't say it wasn't possible, just that it takes more skill to control it than it does in an FR setup. Some of those NSXs drifting are incredible, I give a ton of credit to those drivers. Have you ever tried drifting an MR? If not, I reccomend borrowing an MR-2 or something and just trying it in a parking lot to get a feel for what it's like. It's really a whole different monster. :D
I've seen a couple of MR cars drift, including my own MR-2 (although I must admit, I'm far from impressive :p ). I'll also admit, it's a VERY scary feeling to taking a hairpin turn when the car snap oversteers..
