Sup peeps,

Just a few days ago I've noticed that on one of my wheels (sportmax 002) clear coat started peeling off. So the questions is
there anyway to get this thing fixed without resurfacing the whole rim? I know if I want to polish it, I'm gonna have to remove
the clear coat with an air craft remover or something like that but in that case I'm gonna have to do all 4, and I'm too lazy to do that
because the other 3 are just fine. Have any of you done anything like this before? BTW this is polished aluminum lip, I would really appreciate
if someone could give me some steps in order to remove those scuffs. Thanks.

There is a thread already out there with the solution to this. It's fairly recent to. Try searching.

I'll update this post if I find it.

You nailed it on the head, sir. They'll oxidize through the clear coat anyway. Well, mine did before I painted them.

Squirt some man "clear coat" on it and see if it helps!

Yea please if you don't mind, I found many web sites on google but they're all resurfacing a whole thing, which i don't wanna do just wanted to see if there's like a quick fix for this kind of thing you know

If you were a crazy perfectionist you wouldn't have sportmaxxx on your car.

Simple solution is leave em.

Second, more difficult, solution is strip and polish.

or for the price of stripping and refinshing you could just buy new ones.

what's wrong with having sportmax ? I like them that's all it matters. By calling myself "a crazy perfectionist" I was meaning that I like to keep the car clean. Strip and polish that's exactly what Im going to do

it really doesn't cost that much everything should be under $30 and for that price I should have enough materials to redo all 4.

Thanks for replies but I get that not that many people like wheels like this...

looks like you also got some oxidation happening on ur lugs, id fix that aswell cause personally, i believe that rust looks 10x worse then your clear... but yeah but strip and polish, did that for a couple ebay steering wheels, came out nice too!

those lug nuts are just cheap junk, can't find any better ones, and I mean I live in memphis, they dont put any salt on the roads cause we have snow only like 2 times throughout a whole winter

sportmaxx=cheap wheels; cheap wheels=crappy products used in production of the wheel

volk, work, etc finishes are high quality and will last much longer because of the high quality techniques used in production. if you want show car wheels, you need to pay for show car wheels.

you get what you pay for...

and do you really think ur comment is helpful here? Fuck no! I dont have rich parents nor do I have a lot of money? If I did - I wouldn't drive a 240 is one thing, another thing I wouldn't be rolling on sportmax wheels, who gives a damn how good they are? It's just completely pointless to have volks or any other expensive shit like that on SOHC, auto, open diff 240, don't you think? Now, who said anything about a show car? Maybe I'm just trying to improve me knowledge about polishing and resurfacing wheels so I might use it later on in future. Dang, please give me a brake people! All I wanted to know is which sand paper to use and whatnot and you give me all that instead, thanks a lot you deserve a ban...

Lol.

it's a one piece wheel whatsoever...

Agreed, this is pointless bashing when a member is coming to this forum asking on how to fix something...Especially from new members.

Just to contribute....As to what was previously said, just strip that one wheel down and re-clear it.

Nice! Do you have any pictures of it? As far clear goes, would that be ok if I'd just go ahead and get the one that sells at AZ?

Thanks for support. I would love to do that but I'm not sure if it will match the other wheels? I mean it's not a big factor but still? Maybe I should just go ahead and do all of them at the same time or something

Haha, then what are those bolts for on the lip/face of the wheel? Might as well just do what those two said.

that's what I figured

Honestly, these wheels are cheap, but if you brake them you can easily replace'em and at least you won't kick yourself in the head for doing anything to them, cause they ain't volks or works, so at least we have a benefit right there

They must be cheap if you're recommending that someone use them for Brakes.

:duh:

Break - To destroy something
Brake - The part of a vehicle which, through friction, enables said vehicle to slow and stop.

If you're referring to "internet nuts" then ya, maybe half of this forum actually have life, for example me, registered in 07, <20 posts so far, everybody know that NICO is the best when it comes to 240s and not limited to; so the more responses I see from people like "ThatGuy" the less I want to come and read all that b/s.

Anyway, I finally received a few answers that were actually helpful, thanks to those who helped.

b/s?

I was unaware that knowing how to spell was reserved strictly to the internet.

I merely tried to give you helpful advice, not tell you you wasted your money buying bullshit wheels, and now worrying because their cheap build materials aren't holding up.

No, I didn't bother with that, because it's obvious you're going to spend, or waste, your money how you see fit. I could care less how you spend your money. I will however comment on your inability to use the proper word to explain your meaning.

In closing... Kiss my ass and have a great holiday.

Right now, you're pissing on the wrong Christmas Tree.
