Yahoo! Sports and ESPN.com reported, respectively, earlier Tuesday that the fight is "is all but set," and that Mayweather had "agreed to terms for the welterweight title bout."

Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum departed for the Philippines on Tuesday night for a previously scheduled trip to meet Pacquiao. Arum was not immediately available for comment today.

Roach said his agent, Nick Khan, told him "Arum had a [Mayweather] deal together" when he left the U.S. "That's all I know."

Roach said he remains uncertain if the fight has to be fought March 13 because of Pacquiao's planned run for a congressional seat in the Philippines in May. Arum and HBO, which will televise the bout, if it occurs, on pay-per-view, prefer a May 1 date.

There is no taking credit away from either if they were to prevail. It seems like you drftwerks have something against filipinos. You seem to attack them on a personal level. His best opponent is probably Corrales. He is a great boxer, but a boring one at that. He has been dodging all the great fighters who have a chance on beating him. I dont take anything away from him, but I would like to see him fight Mosley, Cotto, Williams, or even Berto. His comeback fight, he fought an overweight Marquez and he still camein over the agreed weight.

If this fight is to happen, i am still up in the air about who will win. I want Pacman to win, but with the great defense of Money, it will be tough. If it goes the distance i give it to Money, but if it is going to a KO, i would bet on Pacman.

IMO, this one's going to be a really interesting fight. Both fighters are the best there is in their current weight class, adn whoever wins will go down in history as the all-time best of the best....

Mayweather has his world-class boxing and "shoulder-roll" unusual defense, as well as speed, in his favor. If he manages to neutralize Pacquiao's speed and left hand and manages to keep the fight running around the ring and scoring points from outside like he did with Marquez he'll win it by decision. However, Pacquiao is no slouch when it comes to speed, and has a LOT of power (just ask Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto), so if he puts the pressure on Mayweather and disrupts his rhythm Pac-Man has the winning card. Let's see how the fight pans out once the day comes....

Agreed w/wangan_cruiser. Mayweather, like I said a couple of posts ago, IS a world-class technical boxer, and his quickness, style and "shoulder-roll" defense have been his major weapons throughout his career, and have been the dismay of all the opponents that have faced him so far. But IMO skills are just half of what makes a boxer. And it's not that I don't think a little smack-talking can make things more interesting. It's just that Mayweather takes the smack-talk a little too far, and since he's still undefeated he's been riding on his high horse as if he were a boxing God who has no match for him, which IMO he isn't because he hasn't faced someone like Pacquiao, who fights better when the opponent opts from trying to keep the distance. And such attitude can break a boxer in sense of his fanbase, which Mayweather has been lucky to have and keep.....

I like people like Pacquiao a lot better. People that do have skills (especially Pac-Man), but that are also very humble and accessible to their fans and steer clear of underestimating their opponents, as well as willing to give a good show, which is what I expect when Pac-Man and Mayweather step into the ring in March.....but by no means I'm disregarding the skills of Mayweather.....
