Hey guys, I have mildly stretched tires on my car and within 48 hours one of them lose almost all air. When filling it, I hear no audible leak. Is it more likely a small hole in the tire, or a bad seal on the bead? thanks!

You could have a small hole in your tire from a screw/nail/etc., your bead could have not seated right, or your valve stem could be leaking.
Take it to your local tire shop and ask them to throw it in the dunk tank and wait for the bubble to come up. I.E. replace tire or have them patch it/clean rim above drop center and apply bead sealer then remount tire, or ask them to replace the valve stem.
If they find nothing, tell them to replace the valve stem anyways. And what do you mean midly stretched? Post your rim and tire size.

its a work wheel, so it has aluminum valve stems. mild stretch 235 on a 9 inch wheel.

Take it to a tire shop and have them dunk it. 235 should not leak at all on a 9J wheel, or not tire should leak at all on any wheel. Aluminium, phh, they can replace them with the ones they have there, metal or rubber.

A 235 on a 9" wheel is barely any stretch at all. Do what this man suggests^^^

235mm = 9.25". How is that a stretch?

^ huh...? Am I the only one who stuck a wheel in the tub of my bathroom? As suggested above, putting the wheel in water will be the wuickest way to find where its leaking air. I assume you checked the rim of the wheel to see that nothing is bent right?

+1 on dunking the wheel!
235 is not a stretch on a 9" at all, doesn't matter what sidewall. Unless you meant to type 215 or 205...

Just spray the wheel with soapy water, the air leak will cause bubbles galore that will grow from where its leaking. Simple do it yourself at home.

^ this guy speaks the truth, why get your bath tub all dirty with dirt/brakedust when you can spray soupy water on it(tire shops do this all the time to check if a patch is good or not)

I would never put a wheel/tire in my bathtub.

9.25" = 234.95mm
9" = 228.6mm
6.35mm larger tire then wheel = no fucking stretch.
Use soap and water.

soap and sponge...wash your whole tire...you should see bubbles. if you don't...run it along the rim where it seals (bead). no leak? take it to a tire shop and have them re-put it on. maybe have them put a bead sealer on first.

What does that have to do with putting a wheel/tire in a bath tub.
If anything, that would be an argument TO put it in a bath tub.

Because the other guy was talking about how the wheel was going to get the bathtub dirty...

oil drum cut in half makes a damn good dunk tank.
you don't need to submerge the whole fucking tire and rim at the same time after all.

You could possibly have more than one leak though. Most people not dunking the whole rim and tire at the same time, come across the probem were they think they found the leak, but then there might be another leak in the area not submerged. They fix the problem and come to find out, they end back in the same situation.
For someone asking others questions online about there own tire, were nobody answering your questions is around to visablly look at it.
Take it to a tire shop.
any one here having a problem or know what to do with a leak on the side wall?
215/35/18 9.5 all around with Falken 452's. All of the tires hold air except for one. I already took it to tire shop and swapped tires with the other side, and it still leaked. Then put bead sealer and it still leaks. Wheel is not bent also?? any suggestions anyone? Tire keeps losing air and popping out of the bead.

If there is a hole in your sidewall, the tire is trash.

Tire might have been ripped upon install

i was going to come in here and laugh but like racepar1 said its not really a 'stretch' (I was expecting a 215 on a 10" wheel lol)

i use lightly soaped water and a squirt bottle. spray it around the bead and see if any bubbles form.
i think ur rim is messed up. or your tire has a hole. or both. because just to reiterate...235 isn't stretched at ALL on a 9.
ill prob buy another tire and mount it and see where it goes...thanks guys

You checked to make sure the valve stem doesn't have any slow leaks right? If they have any real age to em they can start seeping over time.

Im sure its not the valve stem....i can actually hear it leaking from the outside side wall. I could press the side wall in with my finger and it would just leak more. anyone using some special kinda of bead sealer?

Have you placed the wheel/tire in the tub yet?

i say let the tire shop fix it!
wheel was put in tub and air just leaking from side wall where bead of tire meets against the rim.....i think im gonna take the tire off and clean both surfaces really well and try it again......

Well if all else fails you could try one of the higher strength sealers like Tiretyte or Viking Seal
It's just to bad you can't screw them down like we do with slicks lol.

clean the rim....most of the problems with the bead not sealing is actually a rim problems. clean it really well. like with sandpaper....if there is any corrosion.
