im sure some of you work for a big company that filters or blocks websites during work hours. and im also sure that some of you have found ways to get around them. so spill it...please? i hate being denied when i try to check out zilvia, freshalloy, etc. i find it stupid that car sites are blocked, yet i can easily go to mtv.com or whatever and watch music videos and such.
the program that blocks/filters the sites at my work is called "Websense". i hope that helps. thanks.

-Nope nothing is blocked for me at my job

Should be in Off Topic. . .
Regardless, not many companies block websites. All I can think of to get your sites would be to set up a proxy on an unblocked server. . . Might be more trouble than it's worth. Plus, how ****ed off would your boss be?
OOOH!! I know!! Set up a unix system, enable telnet or ssh or some form of remote login, and use Lynx! :-)

hmmmmmm yea...interesting. but that would only work if i can somehow splice the defibulator, and power up the flux capacitor. hahaha :p im sorry i dont know how to do all that advanced stuff, even if i could it sounds like its not worth all the trouble. my boss isnt too tech-savvy, but im afraid that im being watched by big brother, or in this case big-comany-techs. here a free tip to everyone though: when u hear, what could be your boss walking by "ALT + TAB" is your friend.
oh yea, sorry, this should be in OT. my bad.
ok cmon people, how do u get around web filters (Websense).

uh, I thought I just told you not one, but TWO ways :-)
If those are beyond you, might as well put zilvia aside and do some real work ;)

I just wanna know how to get a job that you're not scrutinized in. How the hell do you surf w/o getting bitched at? Where do you work? I want a deskjob just like in Office Space.

oh, and a nice way would be to set up a computer at home and use remote desktop connection on it. it'd be a little pokey but it'd work.

They probably have the port that a remote desktop connection uses blocked anyway (I'm assuming that it uses a seperate port)
What we really need is someone to set up a mirror of this site on a non-blocked address, that would be badass.

You might want to try here:
http://www.multiproxy.org/
It's a website that has listings of anonymous proxy servers, that will allow you to route around your company's filters.
Of course, most companies will filter the anonymous proxy sites, so it's sort of a Catch-22. Your company may have missed it, though.
Go to Google and do a search on "anonymous proxy" and see what you can turn up if the link above is blocked.
Ironically, my company filters all of the anonymous proxy sites, but I can get to the majority of the car forums from here (I'm at work right now). Fresh Alloy is one of the few that I can't access. Zilvia is just fine.

hahahahaha my job is soooo like office space. cubicles, water cooler, huge printers and all. its so damn boring.
that mirror site stuff sounds really good.
OHH and i came up with sort of a solution today. I CAN go on a lot of the forums (club4ag, freshalloy). all i need to do is type forums.freshalloy.com.....then it lets me in. but it blocks me on "www.freshalloy.com". i think the word forums makes it seem like a non-recreational(fun) site. Mr. Piedlourde you should try that. the only problem is that u cant see some of the posted pictures on threads depending on what hosts them.
another way is if i get in early enough (before 8am) i can go to almost any site i want. then id just leave the window open all day, and its all good. the problem is i have to get there really early :(
i guess ill try that multiproxy thing on tuesday. woohoo!! i hope it works.

My job has this super nazi firewall that only lets us get onto .org sites, I so hate it, because I miss out on good stuff while at work.

Been thru it a billion times, it doesn't change much... EVER. I go to other .org sites that I think of during the course of the day. I even promised to management not to look at porn if anyone was looking over my shoulder and asked for an office instead of a cubicle, but they weren't going for it.

Is it safe to use your email with these proxies? I mean can they get your passwords and such when you go through a proxy to log into something?
