So my stock 92 KA lately has been acting real funny. it idles anywhere from 500-1500rpms and is intermittent, but has been happening more and more. I thought it was a vacuum leak; sprayed everything down with carb cleaner.

No Change...

I moved the wiring harness around, and and the idle dropped significantly. I started to dive into the harness, next to the TPS and found this abomination:

think this may be the cause of my problem? it looks like multiple wires, same color connected to one, is this on oem splice that nissan did or a botched repair job? The wire is black with a silver tracer. it started to get dark before i could really dive into it and follow it.

I also looked at the wiring diagrams. and it may possibly be the black with grey or white tracer for the CAS am i right? the car has no Engine Fault codes either.

Can anyone help me out please?

That's not the problem... believe it or not, that's factory. It's just a ground - make sure the ring terminal at the end is grounded.

It looks the factory crimp connector to tie together the grounding point for the various sensors.

As said above, just check that all those wires are actually connected to an engine ground.

Troubleshooting wire issues is very hard to do in person, much less online.

hrrm ok. thank you for the quick reply! It does have the terminal on the end and is hooked to a ground guess i will dive into this deeper tomorrow, and will clean up/ resolder this ground.

Just an update:

Turns out that splice was the culprit, i soldered them back together and this car now drives like a dream again. I also had an intermittant starter relay. All replaced and all is well again, thanks for the help guys!
