I just put in the KA in my shell 2 days ago, and I bought the battery today. Hooked up the battery and all the electronics work fine. I tried to turn over the engine, but got nothing. I heard a click, click which I assume is the starter relay. My dad tapped on the starter with a hammer and the starter turned, but not the engine.

We figured that the battery is new and might not be charged all the way. Hooked it up, starter turned, but nothing

Dad tapped on it again and the starter stopped, as it was in the beginning. I'm pretty sure I hear the relay clicking though. Is the starter the problem? Thanks!

Make absolutely sure your starter wires are connected securely.

Then look at the clutch interlock relay and see if the relay is working properly. A bad relay will give a bad signal to the starter solenoid.

Then check that all engine grounds are hooked up properly. This is fairly common.

Then check all the wires for shorts.

Don't start buying parts until you've checked the easy things first.
