i think osme people on this board use non-intercooler setups.. and they havent had any problems yet... but i could be wrong..:p

how does a FAN replace an Intercooler?
They do completely different things, and have different purposes. They may be somewhat related, but still do completely different functions.

I believe your answer is a big N and big O.
NO
Intercooler actually hold air inside of it to cool the intake charge also keeping the pressure in(exactly why you have turbo to begin with). A fan just sucks.... or blows.... :D

Here's an idea:
Find out what an intercooler is, and what it's used for, and then see if you still wonder about this.

maybe what he meant was:
can i put an electric fan on my SMIC instead of getting a FMIC?
kind of a long shot, but it'd make more sense, and judging by the grammar/spelling of his post who knows....

I think he was saying that he was having a fan blow cool air over the piping going to the intake manifold instead of having an intercooler. Nonetheless, it is still a worthless proposition.

I'm with philip, I think he just wants to cool the pipe?
It'd be a cool project to take on, you could wind copper pipe around it for a couple feet of the turbo piping and run a water cooling system of some sort... but why bother?

You're right, the weight of the piping and the pressure lost in winding it up like that would make it for more worth it to just unass the dough for a SMIC, and for the money/effort involved in such a project, a front mount would be just as easy too.

i feel retarded now..:p

hey wait a min... can i use an electric fan capable of generating 15psi instead of a turbo?

better to get the twin fans to replace twin turbo..10 psi each..:p

you've been looking at ebay "electric turbo" haven't you? the answer is....no, the amount of power it would take (I'm pretty sure about this) for an eletric fan to generate 15 psi would probably kill your battery in a second :D

ah ha! see.. what if i invent an alternator that utilizes exhaust gasses to create enough electricity to power a fan capable of 15psi?

That would be hard as ****. Better off just making a nuclear power plant inside your engine bay.

I was going to come up with a credible answer to explain HOW to get an alternator sized to make an electric fan put out 15 PSI, but it gave me a headache and I had to drop a deuce, so I passed on it.

Yeah, I had to take the browns to the superbowl, and trying to come up with a way to make the original post in this thread worth anyone's time made it come up a lot quicker somehow.
Dont knock the electric turbo to hard it does help quite a bit. My bud cut a hole in the end of his K&N and ran a 3" tube to his fender-well and put another K&N on there... In the middle of the pipe we got our hands on a 12v High power blower fan. Like the ones you see on E-bay.... And put it in... made a switch on his dash. I can say that it will give you quite a bit of power you can feel it push you back in your seat when you flip it on.
I'm going to try and get him to dyno it with it on and with it off. that should be fun. I have been thinking of setting my car up like his but use a NOS type switch on the gas to turn it on.
EDIT: Fixd spelling errors. :) hehe

Should I put a fork in this thread?
Its not usefull so sure.
