im wondering a couple things, i just purchased brembo drilled and slotted rotors for my 91 240 and im wondering are there any upgraded calipers that will fit stock rotors?

i know i had nx2k brakes on my 97ser but idk if those will fit, or if they would even be any better.

does brembo or willwood make any oem replacement calipers? i dont want to replace my bad one with reman parts store crap.

thanks!

in short no (i dont think so anyway)---if you can find calipers brackets for a maxima (and the calipers of course) they bolt on and work great (they are actually the same as 180sx brakes) but then you also need a bigger rotor (also maxima if your 5 lug or altima if your 4).

Otherwise get some good pads --EBC reds are my fav's and you will be plenty happy

+1 on hawk
or if your baller go Project Mu
you'll be happy with the slotted rotors and nice pads..unless you track it frequently or have alot of power no need to upgade the clalipers put your money elsewhere

cool i think i can get a discount on hawk at work, the reason i was wondering is because one of my calipers started leaking when i was changing the rotor and i dont want to use auto zone reman crap.

actually if you want a nice setup the wont completely break bank, and will make you vomit when tapping the brakes go for z32 calipers, dba4000 rotors, hawk hp plus pads. obviously a z32 bmc.

my buddy runs this on his street/ track bug eye wrx, and his s13 hatch. It's tits and I plan on doing it myself

I suggest the q45 setup, It's cheap and bolts right on. The only thing you have to do is redrill the rotors to 4-lug.

Define your idea of the size of this bank...

That setup is not cheap. Going cheap would be finding a set of worn Q45 front calipers, get rebuild kits and do it yourself, get a set of Q45 rotors w/pads from ebay, a 17/16" 300Zx BMC (most expensive part on this list), some fresh fluid, and drive.

I went this route, but I found a slightly worn BMC for less than 50 bucks and did the retapping myself for the extra brake port, and added SS lines.

Total cost = $220 Done.

And don't listen to guys that knock ebay brakes. Yeah they all come C/D & Slotted (meh), but for the price, tits. I've been using them for over 6 months now and I beat the hell outta them, no warping, good braking power, reliable pedal feel, what more do you need?

I'm searching for the rear e-brake setup and then I'm up-grading the backs.

Rear brake cost est. = $150

Just gotta hold out for a good deal.

Good Luck.

Oh and Hawk pads are nice....if you like brake dust all over your damn wheel. VERY dusty brake pad.

yes the setup isnt the cheapest but it performs. hardcore. I'd go with my setup over wilwood/project mu, granted if I had the cash I'd go for a baller 6 pot but I cant.

For the price of the setup you CAN NOT beat the benefits.
as far as break dust is concerned get over it. Any performance pad will throw dust. If you're going to worry about it A)don't get chrome wheels,B) buy some wheel cleaner, or C) don't bother with the product.

The point is i didnt spend 2k on a BBK and can stop much better then shitty Q45's. Z32 brakes are NOT that much money either.

you guys have given me a bunch to think about, i will probably go with the q45's after i wear out the brembo rotors i just got.

and fer real. brake dust?

a were driving 15-20 year old cars. and my wheels are spray can white. i could honestly give a poo about brake dust. cheap and reliable are the name of the game here.

This guy knows his shiz. Seriously if you have a Street car, Bobcats (or Panther Plus if you need more hardcore) are the only way to fly. XP series for track cars. Rotor friendly, hotter the better, and affordable.

The stock 240 brakes are actually better then most people give them credit for. With good pads, lines, fluid, and some brake ducts you would be amazed at the punishment they can take. Also, EBC does suck ass. Hawk pads are very good, just kinda expensive. If you don't mind the dust (LOTS of dust...) and a little rotor wear porterfield R4-S pads are very nice, and for $80 or so per axle they are quite a bargain.

j30 rear knuckle bolts up directly, you get a bigger rotor and caliper has larger piston and pad , i run that with z32 up front and im glad to say that if i didnt upgrade, i woulda killed that stupid f**kin kid that hasnt learned how to look both ways yet before that incident. haha, that was close. e brake is nice too, automatic brake booster is next fa sho

setup with good pads is about 200 if you get knucke caliper etc from upull or something and you get five lug

I am over it, but I'll still pick option C.

I forgot, most of you guys treat your cars like they ARE 15-20 years old. No washie, no waxie, no love. 240s are just meant as track beaters right? Gimme a break. Oh wait here we go...

Yeah, for all you guys that just treat a 240 like you just bought it from a destruction derby left over lot, pay no mind to my posts, or your car's looks for that matter.

honestly, I just hate seeing all those beater 240s out there, really pisses me off. It's a great looking car, STOCK, but everyone always feels the need to throw a stupid wing, non-flush bumpers, mesh grillz, stupid FWD Motegi rims, bad window tint, even worse interior accessories. And that's cool, right? Sheesh.

Anyways back to the topic,

I case most of you didn't know, Q45 brakes are practically the same as 300zx. The only difference is the Nissan logo and the rotors thickness (2mm). Same rotor diameter, same weight as iron 300zx, no bling. Oh and cheaper. Both setups use the same e-brake configuration, same rear brake setup, no bling.

And really, the stopping power is just as connected to your tires as it is your brake rotor size. The larger brake rotors are tied more to heat absorption for longer braking cycles. I don't remember the specs but i'm pretty sure a stock 240 braking distance is about the same as a stock 300zx on paper.

EDIT: Looked up the braking specs:
S14 - 60-0 = 125ft
Z32 - 60-0 = 140ft

Just in case anyone cared.

So save some money, get Q45s, then upgrade your tires.

A good set of pads wouldmake those tires cry.

What I've been trying to say. A banging pad compound is worth more than a shitty pad on a bigger caliper.

oh i thought i was being clever, as the phrase is "cheap fast and reliable you can only have two."

i dont want my brakes to be fast.

dude i agree. but i wash my car weekly, wax every other week. but lets be honest. my clear coat is peeling, paint is faded. dent in the 1/4. im fooling no one. if i could make it minty fresh with some new spray, i would.

and no that stuff makes you look like a civic owner.

the only "interior" i have is my dash, center console and aluminum racing seat. and its my dd.

NO LOVE!?!?!? if you were my gf. id punch you.

i say anyone who can survive a zilvia noob flaming is part of a group who loves ther cars more than life. regardless of how it looks. i bet 98% of ppl (if they could afford it) would make there cars fresh as fk. but that shit's expensive.

besides isnt it performance first that seperates the tuners from the ricers?

and about the q45's. will do. and im running falken rt 615's on all 4 corners.

I saw somebody mention BMC's earlier. Would i need to upgrade my BMC from stock since i'm going with Q45 Brakes?
