I bypassed the factory amp for my S14 but now there is only a little bit of sound coming out of it. I can only hear it when I turn the volume up a lot. I followed the wiring diagram exactly shown on here. Is there something I am missing? I assume that I need to power the speakers up somehow. I've searched but didn't find any clear answers on my problem. Please, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for replying and sorry for the lack of info. I am bypassing the amp because it is not working. My speakers started to crackle and the sound came on and off. I am running the speakers from a Sony headunit with a power rating of 45 X 4.

are you using the factory speakers? there is a possibility that you could have blown the speakers or at least tore the foam surrounds on the speakers. The reason I am saying that is b/c 45w per speaker should be loud enough. Also check to make sure that you connected positive to positive,etc... hope that helps any..

How did you bypass your amp? Did you run new wires, or use some existing wires? Just asking cause maybe the stock wires are shot. When I replaced my speakers, I ran whole new wires.

I am using alpine speakers. I bypassed the amp by using the diagram on this site in the faqs and archive section. I know that the speakers are still good though because I tested them in another car.
