View Full Version : Went to autobacs and it sucked!!!

Yeah, the one located in Paris, France.

I was all happy I was going to autobacs, drove 4.5 hours and was very disappointed. More like a big autozone! Of course, the main reason of the trip was to visit Paris and by default visit autobacs. I lived in Okinawa for 5 years, so I was spoiled with all the parts and what not and of course the autobacs over there. This one doesn't even compare.

Anyhow, just wanted to share my experience. here's a pic of the store and me. ;)

Well, at least when it comes to cars you are correct.
When I was in Paris a year ago, I noticed nothing but econo-boxes.
most of which were stock-looking anyways.

I just don't see Europeans in general giving a damn about the aftermarket.
I'm surprised there even is an Autobacs in Europe.

You go to Paris and post pictures from Autobacs? That would be the last place I'd care about visiting in Paris.
By the way, the European 'econo-boxes' are really fun to drive.

the one here isn't great either. its almost more like a novelty. if i need actual PARTS, i just go to frsports. autobacs is only good because they always have the oil i want and the k&n oil filters i use. otherwise, i haven't bought anything from there in quite awhile.
they do manage to stock hyper rev tho and that comes in handy about once a year.

Aren't most regular Autobacs in Japan fairly unremarkable? I thought only the "Super Autobacs" stores were the ones with tons of suspension/power shit, seats, garage bays, etc.

Also, aftermarket car shit is HUGE in Europe. Germany is, after all, located in Europe. Paris is just an awful place to drive or own a car, it's a huge clusterfuck. Great city, but a terrible place to drive.

The French in general tend to beat up on cars pretty hard, for some reason. There are plenty of French car/driving enthusiasts though, but if I was one, I sure as shit wouldn't drive a nice modified car through Paris streets.


To get around in Paris, either take metro or walk, get a 250cc scooter, or get some tiny awful old Renault 5 or something that you don't care about.

I've never been at the Autobacs in Japan,
but the one I visited in Garbage Grove CA was depressing.

Admittedly, I haven't visited Germany so I can't say.
places that I have visited in this last few years like London, Paris, Italy, Czech, etc I have not seen much.

With places like Socal & Japan, you can tell the aftermarket is popular spending a day in almost any part of town.

I wouldn't own a car if I lived most European cities.
It's just impractical & too expensive in general.
A motorcycle or a scooter (as you say) might be fun though.

Guys, Guys...trust me, I was a junk yard junkie in Japan...Autobacs is cool for shift knobs, new nardi steering wheels, suspension parts and other little JDM stuff that you just can not find anywhere else, so yeah, in my opinion it is pretty cool! I wasn't expecting the same from Autobacs France (not super autobacs), but at least something better than what I saw. Anyways, I was in Paris for 3 days and Autobacs was on the way so I said why not?

I'll be going back to Paris soon. and yes, they can't drive or park worth a shisa!

I live in Germany and not having a car would suck!!! Just saying...

autobacs is alright if you wanna buy air fresheners, shift knobs and broadway mirrors but a REAL autobacs are the ones in japan, it's like a swap meet of ba parts over there

when i used to live in europe, i have traveled to every country. the only place that i have never gone in my life is france and autobacs. lol.

F*** France, no one cares about that country anyways besides homosexuals, weird couples, trannys and metrosexuals only go there. I hate their language, style of life, cars, ppl, etc.

autobacs is lame too. its just a better store than Autozone and pepboys. nothing interesting or purposeful there.
