If you are familiar with Z's then you know what this is. Its the first model year for the car, a series 1.
This Z has a build date of 1/71.
It was purchased in 1994 from sunny California.
It had very little rust, mainly surface rust under and around the battery box.
Engine:
Its been upgraded with a 75' L28 block and N42 head shipped in a crate from Japan around 1990 and 35K miles ago by the previous owner.
Original SU dual carbs.
Transmission:
I swapped the original 3 spd Automatic with a 5 spd from a '83 ZX NA.
I have also swapped out the R180 with a R180 with 4.11 gears from a Nissan 200sx.
Both original transmission and read end are available.
Exhaust:
It has a Monza header (3 into 2), and dual exhaust.
We have a glass packed mufflers followed by a turbo muffler with a chrome tip on each 2.5" pipe, and a balancer or "H" tube.
The rear valance was cut to accommodate the second pipe horizontally.
Ignition/Electric:
It has EI via '83 distributor and GM HEI module.
The original (and working) California dual pickup distr. and an original coil were replaced and are available
Carbs:
It has the original SU's I rebuilt in 1995.
Suspension & Tires:
good rubber 215/60 14 around vintage (period) aluminum wheels.
OEM strut and springs. All front-end bushing have been replaced with Nissan original rubber.
Mustache bar rubber has been replaced, but the rest of the rear rubber is in need of replacement.
Interior:
new seat covers from the vendor who did the nissan program in 2000.
I have also replaced the interior carpet/floor mats with quality (not victoria british or jc whittney
I am in the process of re-doing the interior. It is not complete/perfect.
Exterior:
repainted 3 years ago(?) "Chrome Yellow", you have seen this color on 98+ Mustang and Pickups, is a OEM Ford color.
The original car paint color is more like mustard than gold.
I added the BRE rear air dam, and I am not sure of the front air dam's origin.
But, I think they both look "stock".
I have also added the clear headlight covers, these are not really installed as I would leave them.
About half of the emblems have been replaced.
