Ok so a got a s13 5speed ecu laying around. Um about to go 5 speed on my s14. I know that I can use my stock ecu but my question is if the s14 is obd1 then can I use my s13 ecu on it?

Let me try to understand what you're asking so people can help you.

a got a s13 5speed ecu

The S13 was sold with CA, SR, KA single cam and twin cam.

Which version do you have?

OBD-I means that you have a 1995 US model S14? Or some other market S14?

then can I use my s13 ecu on it?

Let's think about it for a minute. Does the S14 use any sensors and/or components not found on the S13? Does the S13 require any sensors/components not found on the S14?

Do you think you can work through the FSM to convert everything over to S13?

The short answer is to just plug in the ECU and you will see what the problem is.

I'll just leave it at "NO you can't use that ECU" and finish with "your parents should be ashamed".

Have a nice day...

It's for a ka24de. To my knowledge both s13 and s14 ecu's are the same asking as they are both obd1. I don't want to buy a unnecessary ecu if the s13 one works fine. I can't plug it in yet because the car is still auto.

What's up with people acting like assholes in every forum. I though forums were made to help people. No one knows everything

Why not? What does the ECU have to do with auto or manual?

No they are not the same. S-13 and s-14 KADE's have different cams, different intake mani's, different ignition systems, and the s-14 kade has a crank sensor on the bellhousing which the s-13 doesn't. I'm sure you could make it work, but it won't be right. This is all common knowledge and easily found via searching. Maybe that's why we're all dicks to you, because you are too lazy to do the very simple research required to answer your question.

Everything that you told me I already knew. Nvm though iguess I'll just try it myself and share my new known knowledge with people that need it. Thanks though. I think I would know that the s14 and s13 motors are not identical, in know about the crankangle sensor, and if you knew your shot then you would know that it is only used for diagnose purposes and that wouldn't effect the performance of the motor. Thank you though, you were a huge help

Then what the fuck are you asking??? If you already knew all the reasons NOT to do what you want to do then why do it??? I would just run the correct A/T ecu that you already have in your car. All it will do is throw a CEL and I'm pretty certain that you'll have CEL with the s-13 ECU anyways.

Stop fighting and focus. If you know then you don't need to ask. If you need to ask then you don't know enough.

I'm telling you right now I can make an S13 ECU work on an auto S14 with 5-speed swap, but it would take me about a month to convert the engine harness and body harness over to the S13 ECU. It would be easier to just swap in an S13 engine at that point.

I don't know if you know enough to make everything work. Only you know that.

I have seen people spend upwards of 6 months to 2-3 years easily trying to figure out an engine harness.

Wiring is not something to be taken lightly if you don't know what you're doing.

Guys have been using s14 to s13 conversion harnesses for some time now. Its more for rom tunning an ka s13 ecu for an upgraded s14 ka engine.
Heres a link I think you'd be interested in...
