The cluster is S14. The VSS is S14 manual. The gearbox is S13 SR.

The speed on the cluster is half what it should be. The cluster is good because it displayed correctly prior to the swap.

I'm stumped. I already checked the wiring for the VSS and both wires go straight to the cluster.

I don't know what else to do other than getting a new S14 manual VSS. If that doesn't fix it I'll have to go through the entire body harness.

Suggestions?

did you swap the gear on the end of it to the s13 gear, it needs to be a s14 gear

32743-71120 is the nissan part number i believe...

I saw this: http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/284156-different-speed-sensor-gear-sr20-trans-ka24-trans.html#post3086961

The unit looks exactly like the picture.

Is it possible the wires are connected backwards on the speed sensor? I have to do this soon (my S14 has a S13 vss, need to swap in my S14 vss) and am wondering if it's possible to get the wires backwards.

AFAIK, backward wiring doesn't make any difference since there is alternating current.

I saw that on this both wires are Green. The VSS has a plastic housing and the connector plugs directly into the sensor body.

If this doesn't work I will have to try a new S14 manual VSS for $135+shipping.
