Okay so in an endless attempt to waste money on cool gadgets for my car, i was wondering what kind of gauges you all have decides the usual 3 auge pod with volts, oil pressure and coolant temp

Im not modifying my engine just yet but im wondering what else is out there in the gauge pod world to monitor in the engine, and where to look.

Are there any O'reilly Auto Parts stores in Ontario? I live here in the states and got a three guage setup like you mentioned. It had the complete setup (even the adapter for the oil pressure line). I got them on sale for $29.99 originally $49.99. The brand is Equius IIRC. Just giving you the one-up. Try Equius.com for more guages.

I have the guages and such in my project car that is in my shop in town. I will try to get the right address for you friday. They were white faced with silver trim. I also plan on getting the 5" tach after I rebuild my KA.

cool...i want some old school looking ones, cause i want to maintain the stock look of my car, ie i dont want fancy glowing colors or chrome trim. I wanna put them into the center HVAC's spot, in the middle of the dash

guess Ill have to cut my own piece. So whats involved in the wiring, like where do you put the sensors, etc?

For the volts, the instructions say to put the positive to one of the 12 volt sources (they say in the fuse panel which is possible if you have an electrical tap that slides over the blade of the fuse and sticks out with a terminal to tap into). Then you put the ground to a (you know) ground.
For the oil pressure you can run the line to the oil filter mounting deal. The one that has the oil pressure sending unit (just put the line there instead). I read this from a post on the nico forums that the sensor will not function unplugged (good you have the guage for that). Go mechanical for the oil pressure. The one thing you need to have is the right adapter to make it fit .:(

The coolant temp sensor I have not figured out where to put yet but it is all a matter of where to stick it.

I'll keep you posted, alright.

Oil temp, oil press, EGT... nothing else matters :D

For a stock car, all 3 are prolly worthless, but then prolly any gauge is worthless with a bone stock one. But if you are planning to heavily mod it, those are the ones you'll prolly want.

P O I N T L E S S!!!!!

Keep your money and buy something to monitor. It's like buying a camcorder for a dark room

Thanks for the site hotrodguy!

I disagree heavily that they are not needed for stock. Maybe not needeed, bot for example, an oil pressure gauge could have saved my old cavalier from blowing a head, for example. The reason I want to put a simple cluster into mine isnt to monitor useless stuff. I want some stock looking gauges (again, no blue backlighting or anything like that...you never saw that in 1993) Im going with something like HKS blowout sale on the "old school" gauges.

and just as a project to increase the looks of the cars interior while doing it subtly and having it look stock inside. For example, im removing my pioneer deck and putting the old tape player back in and putting a 6 pack in the trunk, to make it look more stock.
