I am looking at getting an rb20det swap that has been wired for an s13. What would need to be done to put it into an s14?

You rewire it for a s14...

Buy a new engine harness. Ship to an online wiring service.
Or pay someone locally $85 per hour for as many hours as it takes to fix your hacked up harness.

So this is going to go one of two ways:
1) someone who has a lot of time can try to talk you through it, and 90% probability you'll end up with something worse than what you started with
2) send it out to someone who does this stuff professionally
I do wiring conversions for engine swaps all the time (as well as full race-prep wiring, etc - weekend work), and about a third of my work is from people that have already messed up, and are worse off than when the harness was stock - this makes more work for me, so I have to charge more.
If you really want to attempt this on your own, you'll want to splice the wiper wiring out of your S14 upper harness, pull the E8 and E9 plugs from the R32 harness S13-converted portion back into the passenger compartment, wire constant and ignition-switched +12V to the correct pins on the F3 plug (you should use a relay here to mimic S14 ECU functionality), and depin the unused pins on the F3 plug. For your lower harness, I recommend using the stock S14 harness with the tranny plugs swapped over, but you'll have to deloom the alternator and starter wiring since they're farther apart on the RB20.
It takes me about 4 hours to do this, if a first- or second-timer can do it correctly in 8 I'd be impressed.

I did my own wiring for a redtop into a s14, it wasnt the hardest but i wanted to make sure it was done right and clean, i had some help from people on zilvia, it took me about a week to do it, hour or 2 a day lol... If you take your time and double/triple check everything you can do it, but in all reality i wish i sent it out lol saves alot of head ache... Just gonna have to do your research and go from there... get all your pin outs for the dash plug ect... GSXRJJordan is right tho, i have watched his work and posts on zilvia and im impressed with his knowledge of wiring and fabrication if you send it out use him :D

Please keep the body harness stock as much as possible. This makes it WAY easier to do the wiring.
The engine harness may need to be replaced depending on how much work was done to it and what's missing.
Then take it to someone who knows what they're doing and pay them as much as they want to do the wiring for you.

It's always about paying someone to do it. I know this sounds stupid to most, but half the reason i do stuff like mods etc to my car is to learn something new. My lower engine harness/tranny harness has already been I guess you could say modified. Everything is separated out on it. I actually reloomed it the other day tidying everything up. I have a friend here who has wired up several SR20's but he's extremely busy, too busy to really give me a hand. I'l be getting the swap here in a few days and then we'll go from there when it comes to wiring. See how much work it will be.

I totally understand the sentiment, but there's a difference in what you really want to do right now ~ if you really want to attempt a wiring job, go for it, I already gave you all the information you would need.
If you really want to drive your car, I'd recommend sending it out so you know it'll get done with a minimum of headaches.
