lol, i use to work on ramp am. got layoff then they call me back in september then i say no because the hours suck ass. ramp is the shit. sleep and drive tug all day and get pay.

the maroon s14 is mine :) i'm a driver for foothill center. oh and no one gets discounts or freebies when it comes to shipping at UPS. oh and there's a white s14 hatch, with the leather interior...belongs to a driver who's like in his mid 40's...one of these days i'm gonna ask him to sell it to me :D

being a driver's helper can be a sucky job, depending on who you get stuck with. i've heard of some drivers dropping off a helper in an apt. complex with a heap of boxes, a map and a dolly; the driver then takes off and does some deliveries in another area lol.

lol well some of these routes get loaded up with stops, and apartments can be a real time killer. that's not the worst i've heard. a few years back a helper took a route out himself solo, ended up hitting a school bus. can't blame the guy though...i mean helpers get bare-bones training as it is, and for him to be tossed into that situation was a stupid call on management's part.

We should be friends lol. I drive my car out there once in a while. But i HATE the speed bumps there, they RAPE my car. I had to lift my car 2 inches. . and its still bad.

if they're hiring check out www.upsjobs.com (http://www.upsjobs.com) that's the only way to apply with our company nowadays. we used to do referrals but they switched to an online system a couple years back. i think fedex is the same way. I don't know how many ppl we are planning to hire with the economy being what it is. But you never know. that's how i started...i was a christmas hire back in '96. got rehired as a regular in '97 and bam 13 years later i'm still part of the brown army :P

UPS and Fedex are always hiring package handlers, because they come ang real quick. Go into the hub and apply. Most of the time though you have to show up on special hiring days, where you go through a giant group.

lol @ no shipping discount from UPS. I work at FedEx (office, not shipping) and we get about 75% off depending on the service, that's not to mention all the other perks (22% off my AT&T bill, group rates with MetLife, excellent medical/dental/vision, stock options ect.)

FedEx is a seriously good company to work for, but its serious work (until you get into management, i just play tower defense all day :P)

i dont know about drivers assistance but i worked in the wearhouse it was fun out of an eight hourshift i would get paid for like 5 hours of break time we played beer pong in the parking lot if it was slow and gambled it was an awsomewjob
