Well I took off the headgasket and then got out the old scraper. Started to scrape the head to get what was left of the headgasket off and it scratched it. I immediately stopped but how do I get the rest off of the head and off of the bottom end? SR20

Bad idea, this will leave small bits of abrasive material behind.

Just be careful with your gasket scraper/razor blade. Use some solvent/brake cleaner if you need to.

maybe an eraser disk and an air drill would work? but that might leave shit behind for you..

The synthetic will not, if you use just steel wool then yes your screwed

I started with a putty knife to get the big chunks and majority of the gasket off, then sprayed it down with permatex gasket remover and went to town with razorblades. Picked up two packs of OLFA blades. If you start putting pressure on your blade you know its dull, and switch to a new one. When you start putting more effort into moving the blade is when you will slip and scratch/knick something. Don't be afraid to let the permatex soak while you let your sore fingers take a break.

Get the surface as clean as you can, and use a solvent to clean the surface. Make sure you use a solvent that doesn't leave a residue.

Now looking back on it, I would have loved to use an eraser wheel. However I think I did a good job as-is.

Once you have the surfaces clean, check your head/block for warpage, and make sure they are within spec of the FSM before you put it back together.
