vibration
shift is directly connected to transmission

So is it a worse thing if it vibrates most of the time like driving the city and also highway ?

hmm, is there any way i can decrease the amount of vibration. When i'm on the freeway it vibrates so much, i think my girlfriend is getting ideas. I DON'T WANT TO BE REPLACED. any input??

It think it means you need new or tighten your engine mounts?????

That is what i have heard before and it reduces vibration.

LOL!

Anyway...is it shaking in the transmission/shifter or is the noise coming from the knob?
I had some problem with the knob making a noise because of the shaking (loose plastic-ish weight-piece inside was rattling) and I just stuffed some tissue paper in there. It helped a lot, although it's still there a little bit.

Of course, you probably don't have a Razo-brand C/F Rattletastic.

if your shifter is moving that much it means your engine and tranny are moving that much. I'd guess damaged transmission or (more likely) damaged motor mounts, so be sure to check those out. If not, it could be something off balance- driveshaft, flywheel, who knows... something spinning off balance to produce the shaking.

KA's vibrate quite a bit either way. You can't compare a directly linked shifter to a cable shifter like on a Honda or something. It's normal for ours to vibrate, the engine is not the best balanced design anyway.

yeah they vibrate some but if its vibrating so excessively it could be a sign of other problems.
I mean, all of ours vibrate and shake over bumps or when you rev it, and they all have a bit of a shake to them at speed.

Does the tranny have anything else it's attatched to other than the engine? (i.e. some part of the chasis)

Yea, the tranny mount at the rear of the transmission. It's the third mounting point for your drivetrain. Jack your car up and take a look, you'll see it.
