One day...my window on my driver's side...would stop going up....it would go down most of the time....but not up. I would pull it up...and it would stay...but if you shifted the window a bit...it would go down easily. I can hear my motor going when i push the switch but it won't move the window up..just down SOMETIMES.

Does the regulator hold the window up?? Or wouldn't the motor keep the window up??

I am planning on getting a used regulator....Since it's all mechanical...wouldn't it be fine getting it used as long as it's in good shape?? The new one is a couple hundred bucks... *OUCH*

check out junkyards first, yeah its fine to get a used one. I'm not sure about in fastbacks cuz I havent taken that part of the car about, but in my mx-6 it uses a mast system with teeth on a string like set up and when they brake, the motor goes but the window doesnt go up... waht I reccomend is pulling your door panel off , and pressing the up and down button guiding the window with your hand
this will allow you to see whats going on

i hope that made sense.

you know i actually did that...

i took the window off..and the regulator out of the door...and by itself...that one rail connected to the cable will go up and down no problem...as soon as some weight is on it.....it will slip and you can push it down.....like the gears are stripped or something.

my dealership told me both my regulator and motor need replacing. Although i ain't sure if both need it.

the regulator and motor are all one contraption. the only way to replace one without replacing the other is to disassemble everything (including the funky cable that runs through like 8 pullies).

I got a brand new one from a dealer. $115 and it works perfectly.
