if wired to run constantly will the fan provide enough flow/cooling power for the motor???
is it possible to run the stock fan constantly??
Yes, the stock fan is more than sufficient for most purposes.
Many like to look at numbers and cf/m or whatever, but if you look at top drifters (Koguchi said this outright to a couple of people whose cars he saw at the Falken event) you will notice that they all run the stock fan and fan shroud. The Fan Shroud is the most important part, I think... but whatevers. I think I'd still run efans if I had the cash. :)

Running the fan constantly will just sap power.
But yes, it's very good at cooling.

i mean jus the elec fan and no motor fan and how would it sap power????

Hes reffering to how the electric fan uses juice from the battery while a mechanical fan is turned by pulleys and such.
I have two electrical fans running constantly for over a year but have had no problem with losing juice. I believe it only draws out 15amps max.

the people i know in the USA who were drifters in japan all say 'keep the clutch fan' it has be best cooling and its constant.
i've talked with some others (still in japan) and they told me clutch fan too
yeah it does take some power, but if you are pushing a good number of horseys under the hood, i dont think it would be too bad.
i am keeping clutch fan and so are most my friends. gotta have the fan shroud! most important.
yeah koguchi-san said clutch fan. i know he uses it on his cars (not d1 one because of its setup) but his red missle and probably 8 other 180sx run stock clutch fans! 12+ years of tuning...yeah pretty sure he knows what he's talking about
i was there w/ dorifto standing next to koguchi when he suggested to richard to put his clutch fan back in :p it was pretty funny. this was at drift showoff about 1 hour after the award ceremony ended and such. he then drove richard's car around a bit after some photos
also drifting your sideways and need adequate cooling of the engine, stock fan does great of that. in the USA we drive so mcuh (freeway, etc) so there is adequate airflow to the engine bay, so no worries.

NO!
The stock electric fan is meant as a little supplemental fan to run only when the A/C is on. If that fan was good enough then they'd only use that from the factory. It's junk. Those of you who have used it "successfully"... do not trust your stock temp gauge! And drive your car harder, 'cuz you're obviously not pushing it :p
When I said it'd sap power I thought you were referring to the clutch fan, which can be wired to run permanently. This would be pointless. A fan only needs to run when the engine is warm.
In short, cooling: clutch fan with shroud or dual high-powered electric fans. Accept nothing less if you ever drive your car hard and hot.

Actually I know quite a few people (only S14's) who use just the condensor fan because it's already hooked up to a thermostat and turns on around 220 degrees (Not sure of this number). For S13's there is no thermostat and plus just running on that one is not safe because it will overheat.
On my setup I have a 14" fan on the condensor that is on all the time and a 12" fan that is hooked up to the AC/ thermostat just incase I start to warm up.
Reason I have a 14" on the condensor is that its a pusher and when I put it into the engine bay (radiator) its a puller and I can't reverse my fan blades around to make it a pusher.
misnomer

If you don't sit around in warm traffic much, you might be able to get away with just using the A/C fan, but it's generally a bad idea. Thermostat is really too hot for everyday use, and the fan just doesn't move enough air. The clutch fan really is about the best setup.

ah ha so no need 4 dual elec fan..good now i can spend that money on somethin else!!
koguchi has 8 180s???
does he mix the motors too in some of them because i saw one of his red 180s and it had a CA18DET in it. i thought he ran all SRs. I saw that car in that new "Drifting" magizine...its got a 350 on front...i dont remember who makes the mag though
