So... we were autocrossing today, and the plan was to start up a mini- grill and cook some hot dogs. But, being lazy bums, we didn't feel like making a mess with the charcoal and having open fire around a bunch of cars that might be spewing fuel at any moment. So, what to do? Being very hungry, yet ingenuitive 240sx owners, we thought "hey! what heats up to around 1000 degrees that we don't have to clean up afterwards?!" The answer:

Yup. Those are hot dogs wrapped in aluminum foil, sitting on the heat shield of an SR20DET manifold. Sucks that the heat shield is aluminum, or it wouldn't have taken so long to cook. Should've used my manifold... but the top mount turbo makes it a hassle. With the hood closed, though, the weiners didn't take very long to get hot enough to eat.
Quotes of the day:
"Hmm... wish I could toast the buns." (reply)"That's what the valve cover is for."
"Try not to get any ketchup on my valve cover, please."
"So if you do a run with the hot dogs on there.... they'll be done sooner, right?"
Man.... autocrossing is fun :D

Like I said.... I've got a top mount, so it was a lot harder to cook weiners on my KA. How could I compete with his OEM heat sheild grill??
:p
I think I beat his times with a G-Stock '01 Sentra SE I drove during the "Fun Runs". But, yeah.... i had a couple seconds on him with the KA. It's mostly (all) driver tho.... I've got more than twice the amount of experience he has at Autocrossing.... impatiently waiting for the other NE SR guys to stop having problems with their cars :)
But... I was thinking: if only we could use the intercooler as an ice/ drink storage container....

hahaha... why does ace always have the good ideas...
i remember one time i jumped in what i thought was snow.... but it ended up being a frozen 1ft lake with snow on top of it..
so i just put everything that was soaked on top of my turbo and it dried up in like 5 minutes LOL...
cars are more useful than just driving and picking up girls..:D

BTW, I'm selling a grill kit for SR's. It bolts right on top of the manifold.:D
:D
I never thought of that before!! Great idea Ace, I'll do it in my next Auto-X event. lol

Actually, we were contemplating the need to stop mid run to turn the "dogs" over.

i think with a little custom work, mounting a grill on top of the manifold wouldnt be too hard, and then make a little wall around it so that the meat doesnt slide off when you get one wheel off the ground...
I've actually touched the heat shield with my bare hand before so yes, I can attest to the fact that its hot, VERY hot. You heard it here first...

If takumi can twirl water in a cup, I am sure you can roll a hotdog, juss make sure whoever wrapped it up made it as round as possible.
Don't go overboard and start grilling onions and cheeseburgers in there
