Hi, I have a 1990 300ZX, with a solid bottom end, and I'm looking for a single turbo kit... I've been looking at a few major venders such as HKS, GReddy and Stillen, but noone advertises a single turbo kit.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

if memory serves me correct one company made an extremely capable variable nozzle single turbo kit for the Z32. Unfortunatley the name is slipping from my mind, I'm thinking it was blitz for some reason.
If you are looking for jdm parts, check out takakaira, which is like, the coolest site ever.
they have parts for cars that I didn't even know they made. however, their prices are average and you gotta pay for shipping from japan, so its not for the thrifty spender.
the problem with the 300zx and a single turbo, as you probably know, its the dual throttle bodies and dual exhaust manifolds. makes a big single turbo a difficult proposition.
two smaller turbos should work just as well.
for the record, this site is big on 240's, unfortunately not too much Z talk goes on here. try twinturbo.net

Thanks :)
My friend has a Z32, and he wants to know how strong his stock shortblock is. I've read with porting, exhaust and a good boost controller, you can make around 420hp on the stock turbos.
Does anyone know how much the stock pistons can take?

Bah! Twinturbo.net folk will just tell you "stupid NOOB, you can't turbo an NA" (I assume this is what you want to do, its every NA z32 owner's first question), and for the most part, they will be correct. Fortunately, if you have the patience and the skills, it can be done, and to go single on a z32 would be very original. Some jdm vg30det's (yes, single turbo) have intake manifolds with single larger throttle bodies that can probably be swapped to get rid of the dual throttle body fiasco and will probaly distribute the air from a single turbo more evenly. Exhaust manifolds can be custom welded I guess, but your biggest problem will be turbo placement. If you can figure all this out, give it a shot.

one of my friends has a Z32 and he told me he knew of some guys that took an NA engine and got all the turbo hardware off a TT and ran it on the NA engine, just to see what it would take to blow it (they were gonna build it anyway).
apparently the NA engine had survived for a while like that and was throwing down some pretty big power in the dyno because of the high compression ratio (but I think they were running 100 octane or something).
anyway that could be cool.

Actually, both are turbos. Mine has a shortblock kit and made 300rwhp on the dyno, so I want more flow otherwise it's wasted money.
My friend has the stock bottom end on his turbo, and wants to know how much boost he can run on the stock rods and pistons. 420hp is about what he wants to make.

I wouldn't trust cast high compression NA pistons in a turbo application, so they'd be the first thing to go... Piggyback fuel/ignition controllers aren't very expensive, and stock turbo manifolds should bolt up... Turboing NA engines is my specialty :D
Aside from that though, anyone know what the stock pistons/rods are good for on a turbo 300ZX?
