Like the title says noob here. Using the search but not getting the answers I need. I a new to the whole nissan game and I really need some help. I have a 1997 240sx that looks to be a auto to manual conversion. The harness looks to have been modified to allow the car to drive but there is a check engine light. I am wanting to eliminate that. I know that I need a new wiring harness for a manual and a new engine computer. But what I dont know is what years are interchangeable. I am to used to hondas where all parts fit all cars lol. Any other help, feed back, or the parts I need for sale please lmk. Thanks

Search on how to pull the ECU codes. Download an FSM for your car. Most people here aren't going to spoonfeed you. Kind of hard to diagnose the problem without knowing what trouble code is causing the CEL.

^ if he has an auto to manual conversion with an auto ecu still in place it's obvious what codes he's throwing.
I recommend searching auto to manual conversion threads for the S14 to let you know what wiring is involved. Don't quote me on this, but I believe any manual ECU from a 96-98 would be okay.

s14 wiring is to vague. search for 5 speed conversion. don't limit yourself to zilvia either. there are other forums and searching google usually helps as well.

You do NOT need a manual lower harness. People always assume that and it's damn stupid. The chassis isn't prewired for the manual wiring, so plugging in the manual harness gains nothing.
You need to hardwire the neutral and 5th position switches, just as any decent swap guide will tell you to. The CEL is triggered by not reading either of those.

ok I think that has been done. I pulled the codes today. Keep in mind I know the guy did one of those stupid egr deletes so I know thats what half of these are for. I am currently hunting down everything I need to fix that.
p0400 egr flow
p0440 evap emission control malf.
p1615 manufactor specific
p0141 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 2
p0446 evap emissions control circuit malf.
p0705 trans range malf.
I did find a great write up on Nico but their check engine lights on their obd2 car and nothing what I have.
Auto to Manual Writeup (5 speed conversion): 240SX Technical Forum: Nissan Forums / Infiniti Forums - NICOclub (http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/181139)
Any further help or knowledge would greatly be appreciated...

All those codes are obviously because you are running the auto ecu.

How do you figure?
Only one of those is automatic related.

I was being sarcastic. That's why I told him to pull codes in the first place. He just got the car and it's throwing codes.
