lol some skylines arent legal in the us. I know the r32 are not for sure. I think only newer r33 and r34 are legal if you get all the dot test and stuff done.

NJ put their foot down about cars with 11 digit VINs. They titled cars and registered them and then changed their minds about it later leaving a lot of people with no way to transfer the title to someone else. Really crappy thing for New Jersey to do, they really messed with a lot of people on this one, it sucks. Most likely this car was perfectly legal in NJ before the state pulled these "Shenanigans", wow I just got to use that word in a sentence!!!

R33 96 and up are legal for importation as long as you convert the OBD-II to US spec which as of right now no one offers a conversion, and do all the necessary DOT conversion specified. As of right now the only Skyline that can be imported for show purposes and titled for limited show plates and insurance is the 99 R34 GTR Vspec, for some reason DOT/EPA think it's special when considering it is the most plentiful of all 99 R34s produced.

Most people like myself choose to keep the car as show/track only specimens because of the legality of the car. They can't at this time be brought to US spec and if somehow you get state title is still able to be impounded or seized.

Sorry for hijacking just thought I would clear some of the confusion up.
