177k, too many miles?

I'm going to purchace a 90 240 with 177k for $1500. i should have it by sun or min. She told me the engine runs perfect and from what I've seen 150k is not uncommon on these engines and run well. Any comments. BTW its a grey 5sp, no rust, do dings and runs good. I hope its what they say it is when I go and pick it up.:D

NO! i got 166 and going strong! my friend had 170 and tracked it a lot

KA rocks. maintenance is the key

if it dies, get another KA froma guy/gal who did a SR swap..cost? under 500! swap takes less then a day! :) PERFECT

Only problem I could see is replacing the timing chain, but other then that it should last forever. I got 155k on my DOHC and its the best engine I've had in a 240 yet, just replaced a Injector though.

cool. that makes me feel better. i do plan on doing a sr20det engine swap though over winter.

Just make sure the rest of the body is in good shape. Check for rust, etc.

I have about 160 kms on mine and it runs great, no problems whatsoever. Still peppy, quiet and smooth.

I have a friend and his has just over 190 k on it (both are 1993) and his is much the same. I would reccommend getting the car oilsprayed anyhow-- my friends is rotten since he never had it done, and mines a beaut!

any suggestions for me to check engine wise(the mechanics). I have to drive it from cincinnati to milwaukee ( 300miles appox. 6 hrs) I dont want to break down in the middle of knowwere.

Well that one got sold. What a surprise!:rolleyes: I have a lead on another 90 5sp though with 125k. I really need to get lucky here.

OK. Anoter 90 I'm looking at I'm gonna offer the guy $1500. The hatch has some rust wich I'm pretty sure I can replace.? But the thing that worries me is it has some surface rust on the underside of the rockerpanels(under the car) and a little spot on the outside of the pillar next to the windshield. It has new clutch and tires and 160k or so. Oh and probably the bst part is its dark blue, wich seems to be a very uncommon color.

Whats your opions guys. Is it a good buy you think. You guys are the experts.;)
