whats up guys, i just recently bought some coilovers and now after installing them in my s14 i have this ugly noise when i drive over bumps. it sounds like something is loose and hitting, like a metal on metal noise, buti double checked everything and its all fine and you do not see any marks on any suspension components.
ill try to get a video up today so you guys see what i mean.

i figured it might be my swaybar because its under extreme tension now because i had to use a spare jack to lift the hubs so i could mound them to the front struts. but they seem fine, the bushings arent shot eaither because i just recently changed all my bushings to urethane ones!

what Brand Coilover?

Composite's?

1 pieces?

Helper springs?

More info is needed. The metal Clunking noise, if this is what ur talking about, is pretty common. Someone else can expand on the exact cause, Im sorta stupid. it is coming unsettled when going over bumps. Yes or No>???

nope its the bang in the middle of the video which sounds like a car accident :D everything else is just some noise that comes from outside..

you sure the coil overs aren't blown and need a rebuild? almost sounds to me like the seals are bad.

i dont know to be honest.... because when i drive on the street there isnt this bouncing like it would be with blown struts. but that bang noise shouldnt be there really. i guess ill take the fronts out tomorrow and make the spring loose and see if its leaking or not.

are they damper adjustable? if so set em at the lowest setting, see if they're just too stiff.
mine makes somewhat of a clunk if i hit a bump too hard but nowhere near that harsh soundin. also try goin slower over the tracks, you'll do more damage to your susp w/o slowin down first.
... and when you put c/os on the car and the height adjusted is shorter than stock, you'd have to jack the hub to mount the c/o, your sway bar shouldn't be an issue at all.
also if you wanna see if they're leaking, just pull the tire off and look at the base of the inner piston rod/top of the threds, no need to pull em apart, it'll be noticeable

yup they are leaking haha like shit! i removed the spring and the piston fell into the body lol... thank god i can open up the treaded body and buy some nice shocks and put them in.

i guess i was just trying to cover the obvious.. i didnt want to face the truth that i bought blown shocks :(

but they were a steal haha
