The Challenger R/T drift is cool - I wonder if he's modified the suspension at all?
Getting an old Mopar to handle is pretty easy... well, for an old American car, anyway. It takes some pretty familiar mods... Offset bushings up front for more camber and caster. Poly bushings everywhere. Stiffer torsion bars up front, springs in rear, and good dampers. Big aftermarket sway bars. Rebuilt late model cop car fast-ratio steering box helps a ton too. Brake swaps from bigger cars are easy. Then just stuff a bunch of rubber in the wheelwells...

wheel fitment truly is an art form. Wheels make or break a car's looks, IMHO. Wheels, I love you!

Oh yeah, I mentioned stuff like this in the Chat post...
http://www.boese-vws.de/bilder/treffen/2002/vw_treffen2002_in_hamm/vw_treffen2002_in_hamm_12g.JPG
I'll find some better pics like this later. Some of the Corrado guys take the stretch to an extreme... they have it so that the line of the Corrado's fender flare flows perfectly into the line of the stretched sidewall. It looks dramatic, but also completely nonfunctional on that car.

but there is one thing that I don't get about the first few cars that have the wheels with a ridiculous off set, and under sized tires on them ?? I know that its so it doesn't rub on the wheel wells but  what is it ??

i highly doubt that THAT LOW of an offset serves any kind of purpose what so ever. I understand the whole drift set up thing with stretched tires and what not, but c'mon now, those offsets are just ridiculous. I'm not saying it looks bad, it's just that I dont see the purpose of the offset being that low. I mean what is that like a -15...atleast! Oh well, I'm sure dousan36 will enlighten me with his wisdom. :p:

It doesn't serve a purpose. It is called VIP style. The cars aren't set up for drift, they're are set up for show. Its part of the whole style. They lower the car and put some wheels with a massive lip on.

right. VIP is looks. its style. its F'IN EXPENSIVE!!!!!!
thsoe cars cost SOOOOO MUCH money. extreme body work inside and out.

VIP style is all about Semi-Lux to Lux cars with big body kits, bigger wheels, DTM exhausts are super common, and lots of polish and chrome. its like JDM bling. id pimp it.

This might sound kinda dumb, but with those perfectly rolled fenders, how does the suspension have any room to travel? Is the camber set up so the wheel slides just under the fender or something? Also, what about the inner fender lining? (Asking because i'm looking to put some decent sized GT-P's on my car with a wide offset.

oh! rolled fendres, that's not flaring
rolling is that lip you have on fender is like
L shaped
that bottom of "L" is the lip on the fender. when you run SUPER FLUSH wheels and the suspension compresses the tire hits it. with rolled fendres it is a I shape. so the fender is straight. no lip to hit tire on. so you can TUCK the tire ni and when the suspension compresses, it wont hit tire
fender lining? what's that. you dont need it. just remove it :) it wont hurt anything. but be sure to pull your wiring harness on driver side fender up higher or splice and move it (takes about 15 hours i was told with all the wires and rerouting). i just pulled mine up. i have about a 1.5 finger gap all the way around from tire to fender. the lining is removed and the harness is pulled up. must pull up harness. if not your tire will eat thru it and 'damage' your car by chewing up wires.
uh..did i answer your q? haha..sorry
Example of a car w/ rolled fenders (http://www.robsaudiworld.com/fender.htm)
also if you look at most BMW/Mercedes w/ the bling wheeels flush with fender, they'll have thm rolled. cost about 45-70 dollars PER fender (depends on how much work for technician). takes a few hours.

Bah, 40-70 dollars per fender is easy enough to come by. What about the aerodynamics though when you get rid of the fender lining? I'd imagine that drag is increased a bit?

ooh no clue there. i wouldnt think much if any
its just good to do for wheel/tires
especially when you lower your car a lot. more clearance. dont know much beyond that.

we have celsiors (LS400), and a few (very few) other cars not listed. we miss out on a lot of cool japan cars. Mark II, Chaser, and Cefiro to name a few.
AKADriver

The MX83 Mark II/Chaser/Cresta was sold here as the Cressida.
The Cressida has unfortunately large bumpers compared to those cars, though :(
Basically...
LS400/430 = Celsior
GS300/400/430 = Aristo
SC300/400 = Soarer
Q45 = Y33, G50 Cima
M45 = Y34 Gloria
We do definitely miss out on the more fun JDM big cars though... I'd love an A31 Cefiro, or a Y33 Gloria, or a JZX100 Chaser.

we also got the 'weak' engines as well :(
didnt get the 1jzgte, RB20DEB and RB25DET, 1jzgte w/ VVT, not sure what other engines those cars got besides the above....er..

I guess i'm alone in the "I love JDM Van/Wagon Style" boat.
I love the newer estima (previa), and accord wagon!!!
We miss out on the K-cars and stuff too... >_<
It looks like us americans will be missing out on less though as they seem to be bringing more things to US shores...
