k so i've been running around in my hatch with my auto ecu after i did a 5 speed swap. the ECU number is a 31, and its from a 92, nothing special. well i ended up getting an ECU that has no number, it says EP on it instead, and its out of a 93 i was told.

well i hooked it up thinking it was going to be great, but when i started my car is seems like its not feeding any fuel. it starts but then bogs and dies in a matter of a couple seconds.

so is there a reason for this? i hate having to get a different ecu because this is the 2nd fail after the previous person sent me another auto ecu after she told me it was a 5 speed...

and i dont want an auto ecu, thanks. i know some people like it but i am pretty over the high idle and the random "ops, my car died while i was coasting out of gear"

ideas?

also, i looked up the code on
http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/wolfpdf/ECU-ID.PDF

the number is A11-B46 G75, and its listed as a 92....

in any case, could the ECU be damaged?

i think you might have a damaged ecu cuz my ecu says ep. and from what i believe. year of the computer has no factor. as long as your not trying to mix single cam. obd 1 obd 2 computers/ wire harnesses.

ok thats what i thought, as long as its dohc/correct OBD then the year doesn't matter. but i've never had a bad ECU so im not sure if the symptom (engine won't keep running) means that its a faulty ECU....

any other ideas? time for a new one?

ya man thats all i can think of. too bad you live in el cahon its quite a drive. cuz if you were near me i could let you see with my ecu. cuz the way i see it if your not having any problems with the auto ecu then you shouldnt have a problem with a working manuel one.

he said it all right there
if your car runs fine with the auto ecu then the problem lies in the 5 speed ecu he gave you.

just stick with your auto ecu
i have one in my car. it idles normal, but sometimes if my car has been sitting for a few days i have to give it a little gas when i start it until it warms up. other than that its all good. my car has never shut off when coasting in neutral
