well the body kit is ugly

did you run the vin yet?

130K isnt bad for a 91

n1 make sure it is FULL catback and not just canister

steering wheel is ridiculously small

nice to get 2 sets of wheels?

its lowered on sportlines but what about shocks? might be blown if stock!

custom intake filter...custom that much...er..w/ the paint job..sounds like a cheapskate

UH OH! painted by himself...BEWARE. might look like JUNK in person!!
makes me wonder what color the car ws BEFORE his 'custom' paint job

is the dash brown or black? cant tell
says only has a/f guage., but looks like has 2 gauges on interior shot.

price is OK, but its a ugly car

i wouldnt buy a modded car. too many idiots out there take care of modding it up BEFORE basic maintenance.

as you can see, im a tough customer.

if you are going to buy the car, and you seem extremely impatient, you better think clear before bidding.

get a stock, unmodded s13. less problems and hassle and its a perfect plate to start with .

Why do you think I asked your opinion?:D

- I actually like that body kit

- Didnt run VIN yet

- Good point about the shocks

- Dash is Dark Grey

- As far as paint... Someone here (zilvia.net) said the car looks good. Maybe its not as shinny as it could be (a little dull perhaps).

- I kind of like that its modded a little. Just means me and my buds are gonna have to "inspect" it thoroughly if I buy it and make the necessary changes if need be.

Kit actually isn't bad looking. Erebuni and someone else makes a copy. They call it "Nismo-style" because there is no such thing as Nismo aero for 180SX that looks anything like that. You can't knock-off what doesn't exist. Still kinda funny that they have to use the Nismo name to jDm-ify it.

your call

alos, why was it repainted? rust? oxidation? wanted color change (if its not original color)?

Im checking it out saturday... If it looks good I might make the deal happen.

I assume that he painted it for color change along with new body kit... I'll make it a strong point to ask about the paint & also I will check about the shocks. Im pretty confident about this car so far. I will also ask if he has any of the stock parts he may have removed (e.g. steering wheel) it case I may ever need these.

Just got off the phone with him...

Springs are sitting on recently replaced OEM shocks... I made sure he knew I did not like this.

Paint was originally black (shame he changed the color) sz the problem with the paint now is that it was his first attempt at painting a car and its kind of chipping a bit at the front bumpers or whatever... little bits here there.

Rims/Tires says one of the y0k0'z needs repair replace (ran into some nails).

OE SW He still has but does not have the OE Airbox (Intake)

Ball Joints... front, sz this is the only thing he had ever to replace. Says has had the car for almost two years.

That's about it so far... Im meeting him tomorrow actually and depending on how bad the paint job is and how the suspension feels then I will make my decision.

I should have the $3k by tomorrow too... Wonder how much a new paint job will be including door jambs & bay area.:D

Hey DOUS!

1990 240SX Hatchback SE 5-Speed 96,000 miles (Needs Clutch + Tune Up)

This one dealer I went to last week gave me a call this morning sz he just got this one in sz to me "needs a little work, the clutch was kinda weak so replace and I think a tune up will have this car running really nice". Says it has 96,000 miles and its a very very very clean car. No rust... says only visual defect is the hoods paint is kind of fading... he sz a nice buff can do the trick. Anyway... he is asking me for $1,200.00!:D

$1,200!?!? w00t w00t...:D

BUT....

I ran the VIN on carfax:

- One Owner
- No Accidents

- Not Actual Mileage was reported in 1992 at 15k miles and in 1995 at 40k miles.

What do you think?

Dousan_PG
05-15-2003, 11:47 AM
i wouldnt on one thing
its a 90
'tougher' for sr swap
and i could never live w/ a SOHC at the track
at least go 91 up!

clutch and tune up? add another 700ish if you pay someone to do it.
also buff it out?
i wouldnt turst a dealer

i can see a sleezy dealer telling you "yeah, that'll buff riiiight out" when you stare at a huge dent in the rear quarter panel.

PASS

go for perfection!

u said you want a coupe
why settle for a fastback?

coupe is great and you'll never regret it
everytime you see a coupe as you drive your fastback you'll be "awww damn"

seriously, dont buy modded cars. buy 100% stock! its safer and less worry for people cutting corners on the modifications!

soo soo true...:(....::tear::....

but anyway. i like how people always put "this car is perfect for SR swap!" or whatever when trying to sell 240's. i mean, how can the car NOT be? i can see maybe if its SOHC, but people still put it for them too.

That sucks, man. The coupes are harder to find. You can't do a Silvia conversion without the coupe!

You could do a SilEighty conversion, though, if that's your thing...

Ok...

I saw the car... drove the car...

1) Paint is pretty bad. Not very noticeable at night but I wonder if it looks like *** in the daytime. The car definitely needs new paintjob & needs the kit to be fitted properly. It is not as flush as it should be. Plus the car was a little dirty too.

2) Steering wheel is one tiny as$ mof0.

3) Definitely needs aftermarket shocks... feels good though, but could be better.

4) Engine/Trans seem ok.... definitely feels/sounds old.... but ran just fine. No crazy noises or shaking.

5) He said front brakes need to be replaced and even though the stopping is decent theres a hell lot of squeeking.

6) When he got in the car to leave, it wouldnt start. Battery had juice (lights/radio/gauges/power antenna etc all turned on) but the car didnt turn over or crank. We tried jumpstart, no good. Roll started the car and no problem. Turned on like a charm. He thinks it may be the starter as he replaced it with a junkyard starter.

Thats about it though... the car seems like a worthwhile ride and with a little bit of cash and effort can turn out very nice.

Now... is it worth the $2,500 investment???

Paint job - Im ready for it....
Steering - small but i like it... just gotta get used to it...besides, he will include the original.
brake pads - Im ready for it...
Shocks - Im eager to put some nice ones in... Im ready for it...
Battery - I need an optima anyways to keep up with my subs
Starter - Definitely a surprise but should be no problem once fixed

I guess I'm just worried about what the starting problem could REALLY be...

What are your thoughts on the starting problem??? Like I said, the engine and tranny seemed fine... no crazy crazy crazy sounds or smoke from exhaust or leaking or anything like that....

What other things are possible candidates for causing it not to start?

Dousan_PG
05-16-2003, 07:39 AM
it doesnt matter
car is TOO MUCH money for what its actual value is
pass on it.
you wont get any advice from me on that car. it is not worth. waste of money!

Starting problem is most likely a relay.

Car had no crank.... I will call him later to see what happened.

If he sells for $2,500 and includes the Rota wheels... (which he said were gonna be an additional $400) then I will buy so long he provides the original steering wheel and other misc originals he may have...

BeatJunky
05-16-2003, 11:36 AM
I just talked to him sz the car still doesnt start on his own. Says the battery is fine it has juice, sz his alternator isnt locked and is healthy sz he is convinced that the used starter he replaced the original with has maybe gone out...

He & I will be in contact later this evening...
