Can anyone tell me what issues if any that I would run into with using Tomei solid lifters with a set of Tomei 270/270 Lash Type cams ?
I was told by a local shop it wold simply be noisey, can someone confirm or share any other information ?

Yes a machine shop, I'm in nashville and the guy never really seen a solid lifter setup on an AFR so that may have not been the best source.

Itll be noisy and you'd have to maintain it by checking the shims/clearance ever so often.

First of all, change your machine shop and or at least call multiple well known machine shops to get your answers. Never rely on one shop unless they have great working knowledge or specialize in your favorite engine mfg.
Cams may differ in many ways from, lobe treatment and process to the actual specs of the lobe/ramp. Tomei may use the same process for either cam but im sure the sepcs are not the same. Cam cards on both anyone?
The difference is in the cam lobe ramp area.
Solid or mechanical cams have ramps (area between the base circle and the nose) ground into their lobes that are designed to run with a specified clearance (known as lash) between the lifter face and the cam lobe.
Don't do it. Sell the products you dont want, buy the ones you need. Tomei didn't make and sell the parts as "interchangeable" because They Don't Work Together.

good. don't be cheap. Its not just tomei that has sets for solid lifters. Hell, even guys in the 60-70's knew to use a cam meant for solid lifters.
