Hit me with all the best bands you have. I have been stuck in a rut with these genres for awhile now and have a hard time finding anything new that's worthwhile.

I tend to lean towards the more punk influenced Psychobilly mostly, but I love a nice slow reverb guitar piece as well.

i think the genre was at it peak during the late 90's/early 00's.
I liked the bands with the more authentic sounds.
usually they came from europe (esp sweden).
Of course the orginal stuff and the obsure stuff from the compilations were fun too.

The stuff you posted is really more psycho-billy.
Psycho-billy & rockabilly aren't the same.
Didn't really care for it too much when it got diluted in punk,
even though I enjoy certain types of punk.

You might like the annual 'Viva Las Vegas' weekend festival that takes place in Vegas every Easter holiday.

I'll see what I can dig up on Youtube.

Cant go wrong there.

If you want good surf rock check out your local REAL used record shop. Itll be vinyl but it sounds better. Plus youll find stuff there youve never heard and will never hear of again!

Then go on to some of the better compilations.

Carl Perkins - Honey Don't (not the most accessible, but i love this Sun artist)
QR30qLKyLBw

Wanda Jackson - Funnel of Love
ROosj_kArfA

'Demented Are Go' cover of 'Funnel of Love' (one of the better psychobilly groups imo)
5ZxENYvo7pg

Johnny Burnett - Train Kept a Rollin
YtcVvWRvrIU

Johnny Horton - I'm Comin Home
zTB_BzSFNWE

Hayden Thompson - Rockabilly Gal

kexp.org (great radio station in seattle) hosts an awesome show 'shake the shack' every fri that you can play on their site.
It's a great way to introduce yourself to a lot of the rockabilly, surf, 50's country/hillbilly music, etc including some of the newer artists.

fmS4keLLEr4

or how about someone everyone knows thats no longer together Zombie Ghost train?

kak0ZKSeKcw

this one isnt really anything that can be defined (kinda bluegrassfolkabilly) lol... but its got an upright bass a banjo a mandolin and acoustic guitar a harmonica and a barrage of horns. lol Larry and His Flask somewhat unique sound

fhAtxTYTV1I

then theres a more ska sound but still has that old sound to it Hepcat

j2UVkjl3Fgo

and I think you might like this one more of a punk sound Sick City Daggers

KgsaqBVlM0s

another band that I like, super down to earth in person put on a good show Three Bad Jacks

i like this thread a lot im so glad everyone here isnt a pure dubstep shuffling rap only type of person. lol I like everything but have always like this kind of music. try getting out of a 240 at a car meet and having a big psychobilly pomp... lol the looks you get are classic. lol

I listened to a lot of rockabilly and psychobilly stuff for a while, but i kinda grew out of it. Its cool but there just isn't enough differentiation between the sounds of different bands. Its great music to watch live though, and i love the art, cars, and tattoos associated with it. My tattoos are kind of a mix of japanese irezumi and american traditional...

One song that fits more into the old school 'surf' category that always kicks me in the gut though:
KwVSSzcuOls

while the dead milkmen aren't a rockabilly band, this song does fit into that category i think. I think a lot of you guys that are into old school stuff will know them. I love this song because it is such a departure from their sarcastic/comical stuff. Good rockabilly/surf guitar is timeless...
