I am very new in dealing with Nissan, (I am a Honda girl)and I have decided I would like to get a 240; swap in the SR20DET, and eventually do a full Silvia conversion. I have been reading up on turbo systems, and everything else I can get my hands on in regards to the car specs, and the swap in general, but I need more. If anyone has any sites, info, or links, it would be very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
You'll more then probably find all the info you need on this site. Also, visit the links section, there's lots of info there. And try going to 240sx.org, but of all the 240 specialty sites, this one's the most organized and informative - in my opinion.
It's great that you're swtching to RWD <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Thank you for the post, I was actually considering doing an AWD conversion on it too, but I was told that is a waste.
More or less. I think that would be overdoing it. If you really want to spend that much money, why don't you buy the whole package: a Subaru Impreza WRX. It's much cheaper than a Skyline (and slower) but it's a 227HP Turbo AWD. AND if you live somewhere where there's snow, you'll love it during winter!
I love my 240, but I'd love to have a WRX too.

One guy I know sold his custom-modified Trans Am (he had over $75000 invested in this thing in mods) for a WRX so he could auto-cross. That little car kicks almost everyone's ass w/ slicks on! It's amazing. They just look a little to...."econo-car"......for me to spend the money on one, though. I'd pay MotoRex for a Skyline GT-R if I was going to spend the money:)

Econo car? I don't think they changed the styling at all from te actual rally car it came from... besides the spoiler and scoop on the roof... Speaking of which, what is that for?
I didn't know they had a scoop on the roof. I know that they have one on the hood, but that's FULLY functional--the car's got a turbo on a boxter engine underneath the scoop. That car is so ill, I want it so bad. I have to look at them all day at work (Evanston Nissan, Subaru & Isuzu is my employer :(-you know what I mean), but sometimes I don't mind. I test drove one the other day, it was really hard to shift and kind of boring before the car hit 3500 rpms. But hey... that little whistle when I shifted gears. Ahh.... I WANT A 4WD TURBOOO!
So, when are you getting your 240, Honda Girl?

There is no Scoop on the top of the car on the marketed cars, And the old/new impreza's have a power dome scoop on thier hoods. The only thing is the old impreza's scoop didn't do anything in the states, since the people in the US always get shafted with a crappier engine (ahem... 240sx... ahem) The new imprezas are boxer engines (horizontally opposed) WITH turbo (unlike the old ones, with redundant hood scoops) And right under the scoop is the intake filter for the engine. HOWERVER, the USDM (us domestic market) DID get shafted again on the engine part, beacuse in europe and japan they have the "STi" version of the motor that does UNBELIEVABLE performance numbers. Overall, i think the car is ugly, but performs like no other for its price range. Not to mention how easy it is to modify the motor... i think its a great bang for the buck

I didn't mean that there was a scoop on the roof... what I meant to say was that it was used as a rally car for a long time and they got rid of the scoop on the roof when they mass produced it...
