"Parts Shop MAX" they sold some for like $20 bucks i think, but you want to PM DC Dan MAX USA (http://zilvia.net/f/members/dc-dan-max-usa.html) to see if they still have some in stock, thats if you want some quality parts.

can i just get some 25mm nut and use them as the hood riser

cleantune
10-24-2009, 09:18 PM
prob could. The stacked washers or spacers with longer bolts is just done by more people

S14_Kouki
10-25-2009, 12:54 PM
Damn dude unbolt one of your hood bolts, Then buy 4 bolts that are like a half inch or a inch longer with some nuts and figure it out from there. Dont use washers cause 20 washers compared to 2 nuts..... The nuts are easier to use.

i did that to my old car back in the day, then after i painted it, lowered the hood back and it looked a million times better. Shit looks silly now and overrated, alot of honda guys have caught onto it thinking it helps their 115hp 1.6l engines.

Do what the others on here have said. I have it done on my car cause my CF hood has some flexing and was hitting the turbo.

In combination with the venting I did on my front end, in my experience has reduced engine bay temps. I have no proof of this other then watching my coolant temps, and by just my guesses.

they just had some nut lying around from their other parts that worked

now they make bank off fanbois for that shit

fliprayzin240sx
10-27-2009, 05:41 AM
Its already proven that this shit doesnt do anything...you end up with a high pressure between the hood and wiper cowling so it doesnt "suck" hot air out of the your engine bay.

I have a top mount turbo and from looking at my temp gauge it does help. The defroster thing is true too.

HAWAII
10-28-2009, 03:08 PM
i read somewhere that it does do something to lower the engine temp due to added escape route for hot air.

It is more significant when moving since the air flow from the vents up front passes thru the engine and escapes from the back of the hood. Turbo engines benefit more since heat is the the number 1 enemy of the engine.

Try it out, won't hurt your car a bit except when you use too small a screw or too big a spacer.. bye-bye hood.. and windshield =(

Air doesn't escape out the back of a raised hood. It's in fact the opposite. That is why from the factory they place seals between the back of the hood and the base of the windshield. With air entering the engine bay at multiple locations it starts disrupting the air flow.

Yeah I've seen that article. Plus no matter what anyone says my hood is propped and my temps are lower. The argument can go on for years I know it works.

Even if it didn't work at highway speeds, why would you need it to work at highway speeds? When you slow down or stop it'll def allow extra heat out of the bay. Between track runs it's a big help. I don't even understand why some people are so offended by it.

Umm, I'd like my cooling when I'm running hot on the tracking, meaning highway speeds.

I meant that at those speeds there is so much air coming through your radiator and intercooler you should be fine. If your car is overheating at speed you have more to worry about than hood spacers.

You still want to vent that air. It has to go somewhere. The faster you get hot air out, the better your cooling system will work.
