So as the title says, I have an issue with my cold start idle. When I first start the car the idle will drop down then up about 2 to 3 times from around 600 rpm to 1200 rpm, the idle will then settle somewhere around 1200 rpm. If it's pretty cold outside (not terribly cold, I live in southern california) the motor will sometimes stall on a cold start. The car idles fine once it has warmed up. I'm linking 2 youtube vids to clarify what i'm talking about exactly. The first vid is of the car stalling on a cold start, the second is the idle behavior on a cold start when its not too cold outside. If anyone can comment on what they think might be the problem and any solutions i would greatly appreciate it. I'm gonna check the vacuum lines but right now theyre showing 20 so I don't think they're leaking.

BTW don't worry about the rattling sound thats just my fender, i dont think its secured properly

bump.....anyone have any ideas? I've searched several different forums but can't seem to find anyone who has had a problem just like mine. I really have no idea what to do about it.

I would think maybe a vacuum leak? do you have a BOV?

i have an hks SSQV.....its vented to the atmosphere....i know that causes the car to run rich and possibly stall when coming to a stop, but i wouldn't think that would cause the car to stall on a cold start....when i get the time to i'm gonna try spraying soap water all over my vacuum lines.....all the vacuum lines are connected to the throttle body right? sorry this is my first turboed car so this is still new to me.

all of the above plus you may also have a intake monifold leak

thx guys for the help!!! i think i've fixed it (knock on wood). one of the hoses connecting my intake manifold and fuel pressure regulator (i think its a vacuum line?) wasn't secured properly to the intake manifold. it was attached to the nipple, but nothing was holding it on there so i ziptied that shit and so far everything SEEMS to be good. on the same note however, i noticed that the same line seems to collapse in on itself when the throttle isn't open. is this normal? when i open up the throttle the line fills with air and balloons a bit so obviously it is nolonger collapsed at that point.
