Ok, so im doing new head gasket on my car along with new turbo and a bunch of other upgrades. So my earl coolant return line cracked and leaked so i bough circuit sports (that was a while back if anyone remembers my old thread). Well, with the earls, my turbo was fine, and then after changing to circuit sports, my turbo blew (dont know if it was time or it was the lines). now i got a gt2871r with .63 compressor housing(disco potato compressor??) and want to make sure it will not happen again.

The only thing different about the two, is the size fitting to the oil lines. I would much rather use the earls fitting because of the size of hole compared to the circuit sports. I am running a taka restrictor on the turbo. Will using the circuit sport be ok, or should i buy a different one???

These two pics are the side that goes into block.

the back side that connects with the lines. Same size.

EDIT: Disregard about the block side and the side to the oil line i discribed on the fitting. Just take into the account of the hole of the fitting between the two.

Please lmk. my car has been dead for 2 months and i finally got all the parts i need. Dont want to blow turbo and restart again.

So wait, you have a restrictor on the the turbo already but yet you were using the 2nd fitting also? If thats the case, thats how you blew your turbo...you're using 2 restrictors inline.

^^no, at first, i just had the earl fitting (from above) with no restriction on a supposedly bb turbo (dont know if it really is because its was a fake s14 t28 no garrett stamp). It ran good. Used the circuit sport fitting, (silver one above) and the turbo blew after less than 5 miles.

ok, borrow picture from frsport (so if credit is needed, credit is given to frsport).

The circled fitting is the one im comparing to the earl one i have. it is not a restrictor, i called phase 2 and they confirmed it is not a restrictor because a restrictor connects to the turbo.

so are you saying for me to not run with the circuit sport fitting (because it is a restrictor??) and to just run my original earl line bc the gt2871r already has built in restrictor?

Well if you're turbo wasnt a BB and you slapped a restrictor on it, then that caused it to blow. You need a restrictor for BB turbos.

Once you have your GT2871R, make sure you run 1 restrictor. There is no such thing as a built in oil restrictor for GT series turbos (least from what I've always known). Now oil lines are different. Certain brand lines have "built" in restrictors part of the kit. IIRC, Taka lines have a restrictor already. Most other companies, you'd have to buy the restrictor seperately. I know I had to buy my restrictor separately for my ISIS line.

Yes, you install the restrictor on the turbo. But that fitting you have almost looks like a restrictor. I dont remember my fitting from the block having that small of a hole. I'm thinking that and the restrictor on the turbo may have dropped the oil pressure too low and the turbo may not have been lubricated enough, causing it to blow.

^^^If that is a restrictor, then what and how am i suppose to connect the line to the block for the oil feed? Am i suppose to buy a different/seperate fitting?
