heres some pics of the sleeve im working on.... i figured u guys would appriciate it. please note this is far from done.....this is just the line work.... im going again next friday to finish the line work under my arm on top and start shading and filling.... prolly 2-3 more sittings left cuz i think about 12 more hours of drill time
there is 6 rb26 pistons/conrods (used one of mine for reference) that spiral around my arm.... on the elbow is the rb oil pump gears, up top is a T04Z turbo.... its made to look like its coming out of my skin..... once shaded itll be more clear..... more to come

It's just an engine.
Your taking it too serious.
But either way its your arm and the work isn't half bad.

Dope. Where's the short crank snout? hahaha
I was expecting something more RB centric, what you have is generic enough it applies to any turbo motor.
What else are you going to have done?

the artwork is wicked. And at least it's not gay like most of the automotive related tats...

Don't want to turn 40 years old and go, shit wish I didn't do an RB engine on my arm, I want a different engine on my arm.
No problemo.

Nice tattoo always wanted a sleeve but to chicken.... Quick questions do u have a rb26 motor at least? Lol sorry, just curious not sarcastic
Sil-Eighty SE-K
10-21-2009, 10:31 PM
someone mentioned it was generic.... ya i wanted that.... i didnt have to be an rb26.... it was just inspired by the rb26.... the pistons/rod/oil pump gears are the exact same as in the actual motor..... no one could tell the subtle differences and that i like.... it is a straight 6 on my arm tho....
Nice tattoo always wanted a sleeve but to chicken.... Quick questions do u have a rb26 motor at least? Lol sorry, just curious not sarcastic

It looks pretty sick dude, (the ink itself), it's just not something that i'd have done personally, but if that's what you wanted on your arm, then I think you went to right guy to get it done, cause it looks like he knows what he's doin'. Anyways, congrats on getting the sleeve you wanted.

that turned out really great, however.........
its just an engine. do you really feel the need to have it on your arm for the rest of your life? even when your an old man and are not legally able to drive the streets anymore?
if so..........you did the right thing.
if not........ well you are young and stupid.
awesome nonetheless.

Well executed but still makes me cringe.
I mean, an engine? And a specific, over-popular one at that. I suppose if an RB means that much to you, who cares.

im sure there are some old farts with L28 tattoos on their arms
and of those old farts im sure there are some who are shocked to see that response expressions to their tattoos have changed over the years.
and of those old farts im sure there are more than a few who are embarrassed to explain what it is

its not necessary just one engine...... I am and always will be a gearhead so its fitting
Ive wanted a sleeve for a long time but never knew what to get. I wanted something that spoke about me and my life not just some random bullshit like tribal (which is gay anyways) that speaks nothing about my character or person. So I found this well suited to me......

That's how I see it. It's about being a gear-head. If you you love cars you love cars. Even for someone like myself who doesn't even own a fun car at this point in his life if i had a car related tattoo I wouldn't be embarrassed of it because I love cars just as much today as i did 10 years ago. And at some point I will have a few toys again, and then it'll mean even more.
I agree on the Tribal stuff too. That doesn't mean shit to anyone at any point in their life. You weren't in a fuck in tribe. But you sir are a car car and this fits.
If it would have been GTR or something, that would have been gay (see Caviler tat), but this is just general car related art so it's cool.
I'd give someone mad props for something like that if I saw it.

good at least someone feels the same way as me and understands..... i was gonna get a sleeve reguardless of what i decided to get..... so there was going to be SOMETHING on my arm..... this is best fitted not only am i a full time technician but motorsports and cars are in my blood and always will be..... there is a zillion other things i coulda got that dont speak a fraction of what this does about me..... iu know dragon tats are cool but what the fuck does that have to do with me?
Daniel.

5 more years, when technology introduces the new engine/parts that alot more efficient, faster and stronger, he will be thinking "was i an idiot to have this piece of shit tattooed on my arm?"
anyway, always can laser to remove it, right?
!Zar!
10-22-2009, 07:03 PM
Well, as far as I can see in the pics, his tat just consists of a turbo, pistons and, timing chain cog. I'm pretty sure motors in the future will still have that stuff.

Despite what people say, OP's tattoo is a lot better than other automotive inspired tattoos we've seen in the past.
Personally, I like it. At least it's not a flaming cavalier, haha.

10-23-2009, 07:30 AM
Flamin cavalier ^^ thats what i was thinkin. Now that was some stupid shit.
This tat actually came out real nice imo. I like it. Like folks said before, once a gear head, forever a gear head. Thats a sick ass tat. As long as your happy with it, fuck it.

No shit.
510-SR20DET, mainstream plug-in EV's cars are JUST coming to market next year. Hydrogen cars are still at LEAST 15-20 years off if they ever happen at all. It's going to be at least another 10-15 years after that when the Internal combustion engine is not the main engine source of the world.
Nice try though.

I won't lie, when I saw the thread title I thought "Oh great...here we go again. Some moron is getting another dumbass tatoo (thinking of the cavalier)"
BUT, this looks really good. And I think it is fitting. I was expecting a tatoo of an actual motor or something on your arm haha. The way it was done though is really well executed, and it is something that has meaning to you, so who cares what anyone else has to say.
I think that once you become a TRUE care nut, you stay that way. It is in your blood and stays with you. Why would you regret that? It looks good and it has meaning to you. You will probably look back at it when you are some 80 year old and remember the good ol' days.
