surprised that thing didnt have hand brakes. Dont some strollers have auto brakes that you have to disengage by holding the handle?

Yeah some do come with that option. Most have just the foot one at the wheels.
But it should be automatic thinking for a parent to set, when you are close to a train or moving cars in parking lot.
