Which is funnier?
I dont know, sometimes theyre too different to compare although I laugh one heck of a lot more at Family guy than at simpsons. Simpsons doesnt leave me in stitches, ever, and family guy does at least once or twice per episode

Simpsons got old to me really quickly.. but then I remember it from when it was on the Tracey Ullman show as filler.... Family Guy is freaking hilarious.. I luv that show.

There is no contest...the Simpsons will never be beat! Every other show wishes it could be as cool as the simpsons.

Simpsons is damn funny because it makes fun with a touch of decancy. Family guy its the gloves are off and they will go over almost any line. But both are damn funny. But I would watch Simpsons over Family guy.

maybe its just personal preference but I think I like the style of humour better in family guy (ie absurdity, and cut in scenes a la "...like that time I went to france...")
but when I watch simpsons, I get few chuckles and family guy I bust a gut

The Simpsons broke a lot of ground and re-opened the door for animated prime-time shows in the '90s. Family Guy wouldn't even have existed without The Simpsons.
I think the writing of The Simpsons has seriously gone downhill for the past 5 years or so, though. I love to watch old syndicated episodes, but I lost interest in catching the new ones. It seems like all the really good production talent from The Simpsons migrated to Futurama.
I love the way Family Guy goes in with guns blazing. Commercial breaks in that show are necessary to catch your breath. But, at the end of the episode, you're just left asking yourself... "what the HELL did I just watch?"

Simposons is great. i have been watching that show for a long long time.
Family Guy is also a great show. i wish it didnt get cancelled, but i am glad that it got picked up on whatever station its on now. the humour that is in Family Guy will either make somebody bust out laughing or leave somebody saying What the Fukc did they just say?
for the family guy, who is your favorite character? mine is Quagmire for sure.

I think that they're both great shows, but I'd have to give my nod to the Simpsons if for no other reason than the fact that it's been on for so many seasons and hasn't lost its allure yet. The new episodes are still hilarious and the reruns never get old. I especially like the Halloween specials. The Family Guy is cool too. Their topics are a little bit more edgy and more for the adult audience. Stuey is awesome. On the same note...do you guys watch Futurama? It was created by the same people who created The Simpsons. I love that show. Frye and Bender rule!

Have not watched the Simpsons in a while, but the Family Guy is more for adults so I like it better. It airs on Comedy Central at 11:30pm around my area.

Family Guy is pretty funny, but its just cheap laughs that come and go in a second; no real value to it. Imitation Simpsons seeking the reputable greatness but will never achieve it.
Simpsons is timeless comedy, almost like a default for a good show. Generally can't go wrong with it. Also yeah i grew up watching it.
Futurama is absolutely awesome. It's a bit newer, not as timeless as Simpsons, and I havent watched nearly as many episodes, but its definitely got that touch of greatness to it. Futurama characters are very diverse and unique and animation is better than Simpsons.
For me, its a close call between Futurama and Simpsons.
BTW, My favorite character is Dr. Zoidberg.

simpons is pretty good...... but family guy leaves me in stitches most of the time. its just so random, it makes me say "what the fukk!?" at least a few times an episode. like when peter went to court and was sentenced to jail, and everyone was like, oh no! oh no! oh no!... and then the kool aid guy crashed thru the wall and was like.... OOH YEA!!!!!!!!! and everyone stared at him and he walked away. classic.

I likem all, but if I have to choose, Family Guy > Simpsons. Sure, Simpsons is a classic, but they jumped the shark. That poor show is past it's prime.
Futurama however. . . That is better than them all! Too bad it's cancelled and stuck on Adult Swim :-(

To quote from South Park: "Dude, the Simpsons have done everything already."
I used to love the Simpsons from the start, but nowadays it's starting to lose my attention more and more as time goes on. The laughs are occassional, but not nearly as much as in it's heyday. I used to be sad/mad when I would miss a new episode, but now I rarely give it a second thought as to what I might have missed.
As I got older, my humor matured, or rather, got more adult (read: perverted), so I find myself liking Family Guy more due to it's constant innuendo.
Thank goodness Cartoon Network plays Futurama, followed by Family Guy, as I love both shows (even more than the Simpsons in it's current state).
The Simpsons have gone past it's prime, which is too bad. It seems like Fox is just trying to milk it for all it's worth.
